Lately I’ve seen so many posts saying anything western is bad, and goras are somehow morally inferior to us desis. I vehemently disagree with this so wanted to post some nice gora stories.
I had just started my first ever job out of grad school. That year diwali and thanksgiving were around the same time, and I was missing my parents very very much as I had never spent diwali away from home. My gori manager, who barely knew me, found out about this and at once invited me home for thanksgiving dinner. She went out of her way and even made the food more spicy so I would like it. She introduced me to her daughter and told me that whenever I miss home, I could always visit them. That year when I was dreading eating dinner all alone, this warm gesture meant soooo much!
Me and hubby had gone on a road trip with a bunch of friends. On the way back it was raining and the roads were icy and slick. A cop car stopped us. The policeman walked by our car and told us that he will be following us till we took the exit as the roads were very bad and he wanted to make sure we were ok. He literally escorted us for an hour, almost till our doorstep.
my MIL is reheating the leftovers and bringing it to our gora gori neighbours from years ....they think she specially made it for them today.....
...of course nice goray... ....
My salary is paid by a 150 year old gora company founded in goraland USA. I pay for roti , kapra and makan of my family with that money.
There are many examples of individual gestures of niceness in my life will share them later.
Well In Islam race has no value, I could care less if someone is black, white, Afghan, Chinese, or Malayasian, if they are Muslim they are Muslim, and they are your brother/sister in Islam. There are White Muslim majority countries too, like Bosnia, Kosovo etc..

so does that, by default, suggest that you do care what their faith is?
It might be just me, but I don’t actually see the point of this thread.
LucyMacy, It is a good thing to point out positive points of certain people and I see the idea behind your thread. But good and bad people are everywhere. With this thread, do we actually want to prove that gora can be good people too? Whick makes it weird, because there are nice goray and good goray, just like there are nice kaalay and good ones etcetera…
As a matter of fact I see far more anti-desi posts here on gs than anti-gora posts.
I hope this is not the start of Nice mexican/mexicane, arbi/arban, turki/turkan stories.
But oh well, because it is your thread:
When in last years of highschool, whenever I came late, the caretaker of our school wouldnt write down my name in the ‘late-comers’ register. That was nice of him. It saved me one hour detention each time :k:
^^ I agree, and that was the point - goras (I meant western people actually, not necessarily whites, so my bad) are just like you and me. I've seen many threads lately with people taking a moral high ground against non-desi/western folks.
I agree that there often is a sense of superiority in us Pakistanis that we feel we are sometimes better in ways than gorey people. I think it boils down to the fact that religion is so deep-rooted in our society, whilst gorey people are much more secular, hence us perceiving more morality in our actions and way of life compared to them. Having said that, I don't think it's necessarily true - while religion definitely guides us in how we behave around others, we definitely can observe acts of morality and goodness in Western (secular) people too...OP posted some lovely examples to back this up :)

Please share your stories too!
Excellent thread
Back where I used to live in shady areas of Detroit during my student days, I came across many goris on the street corners, asking me if I want a date (not the fruit). I never came across any desi female who was ever that courteous.
My family and I have these goray neighbours who have lived a couple of doors down from us for more than 20 years, they ALWAYS send us presents on every Eid, wedding and xmas celebrations. And they LOVE my mum's food. The small gestures they have made for us mean a lot more than Mrs Nosey Parker next door who gives food because she 'has' to (or she'll look cheap), and who feels obliged to make comments on what we're wearing that day or who we were with.
Not to say that people being meanies is a race specific thing at all, but sometimes it's nice to meet people who you can see has a good heart

Well said, bruv. Totally agree with that.
You'll find jerk Goras and jerk Pakistanis/Desis and on the other hand, you'll find some really amazing Goras and Pakistanis/Desis.
Though, I do think Western lifestyle, whoever adopts it (doesn't have to be Gora), is inferior to our Islamic lifestyle.

Nicely said...except it's I **couldn't* care less if someone is...*
