Once in a while people end up surprising you by doing something out of the ordinary or unexpected to get you away from the same old boring humdrum of life… it could be an unexpected visit from a friend after work inviting you for dinner and catching up on things, a nice message from an old friend.. someone running all the errands for you when they knew they were piling up and you had too much on your plate already etc etc.. what is one simple yet meaningful gesture shown to you in the recent past which just put you on cloud nine?
For me it would probably be today when I came home to find a message on my answering machine from my lovely daadi who hadnt been feeling well lately and hardly speaking at all because she was so weak. Such a beautiful surprise… words wouldnt do justice in describing the level of happiness I felt at that exact moment..
oh this reminds me of something silly but it made me feel good
friday..well just a little info..i work in admission area of our college..friday this woman called..she had this strongg red neck accent..and i am like..oh no she is probably gonna end up screaming cuz most of the time they do..so right before she was about to hang up she said 'thank you dear..have a blessed day'..and this little thing made my day..seriously.!
Aww thats so nice! You know what I love? When you help the little old ladies cross the street and then they give you duaain.. like "I wish you lots of happiness in life" etc etc.. its just soooo sweet.. and like the russian babushkas.. they usually end up blowing kisses to you and telling you ty moyo solnyshko (it means you are my sun)... its so heartwarming! :)
Riya, on the topic of Daadis and speaking; I’ll share a little something.
My Daadi (may her soul rest in peace) was completely paralysed for 1.5 yrs, could walk talk, eat, nothing. At times it felt like she didn’t recognise us, but other times you could tell from her facial expressions that she did. I used to sleep in her room and helped in taking care of her in the last 4 months of her life… I know its selfish but I so wanted a sign from her that she recognised me… one night, my Chaacho said to my Daadi “Ammi yeh aap ki pooti _____ hai na”, and she turned her eyes to me and said my name (very clearly) followed by a few words I couldn’t decipher that happines, oh God! I have few moments in my life that I felt that happy, all praise to Allah for blessing me with the chance to hear my name from my Daadis lips. I miss her so much at times

riya you are so lucky to have all that love in you life.
I’m going to mention sthg. that I did for a friend of mine. She was going away to stay and she had no idea that I was going to Pak. (last year summer holidays). I asked all the others to keep it a secret. We threw her a surprise party.I walked in and the silly girl didn’t recognise me She kept on turning her head like 2-3 times and then gasped “MKD!”
The look on her face was phenominal She just couldn’t believe it
