Nic n Nicole - Aaja Pyar Kar Le

Nic ‘n’ Nicole, who are creating waves with their debut album Aaja Pyar Kar Le, don’t believe in remixes or item numbers Shifting base from London to Mumbai, two years ago wasn’t an easy decision for Nic and Nicole but it proved to be the right one after all.

The musical bonding came about when Nic met Nicole (Jackson) a few years back and both decided to pursue their common passion-singing. “At the time, I was completing my studies at the University of Reeding and Nic was working as a marketing professional,” says Nicole.

Having grown up on a heavy dose of British Asian music-typical to the musical taste of most Britons-the two divas finally decided to pack off to India for good. “We shifted base to India with an intention to get back to our roots and understand them,” says Nic, who has a Punjabi heritage.

Composed by Jatin Sharma, Aaja Pyar Kar Le consists of eight original tracks and two funky remixes of their own songs. Talking of Indian and British Asian music, Nicole says, "They are two different things.

Apparently, their initial experiences in Mumbai, were putting off. "Several Indian music industry insiders asked us to do remixes, as this was the rage two years ago. But there’s no originality in remixes.

We also turned down offers to appear in item numbers. We want to feature in the songs that we have sung," assert both the ladies. The duo is currently taking Hindustani classical vocal training, as well. “It is a tad bit difficult to sing and perform simultaneously, but we working hard at it,” concludes Nic.
