Re: NHL Playoffs 2007

Ottawa takes advantage of home ice and beats the Devils 2-0. Senators have now a 2-1 lead in the Series. Preissing scored the game winner in the 3rd period. Jason Spezza scored a empty net goal for a 2-0 win with 56 seconds left to play.

Ray Emery was able to stop the Devils until Ottawa found a way to score.
It's Ray Emery's second Playoff Shutout.

In the second game of yesterday the Detroit Red Wings lost to the Sharks 1-2.
Lidstrom opened the scoring with a big slap shot. Ryane Clowe scored the tying goal and Jonathan Cheecho the game winner. Mclaren's shot rebounded directly infront of Cheecho who faked Hasek and scored the needed goal for the Sharks.

New Jersey Devils - Ottawa Senators 0-2

Detroit Red Wings - San José Sharks 1-2

Re: NHL Playoffs 2007

Senators win seond home game against the Devils and make a big step to advance into the Finals of the Eastern Conference. Ottawa now leads the series with 3-1. Game 5 is on Saturday, 5 May in Jersey.

Captain Alfredsson scored the first goal of the game. Gionta tied the Game in the 2nd period on the Powerplay. Gionta scored on a rebound off Elias' shot. Heatley answered back from an unbelievable angle for a 2-1 lead. Martin Fisher scored the game winner after 3:58 in the 3rd.

The Devils scored their seconds off a deflection by Pandolfo. The original shot came from Martin.

All in all the Sens were the dominating Team. They want to advance into the Eastern Conferece Finals. I guess the Devils not. They can't rely only on Brodeur to be the Wall and stop all shots. Alfredsson has a great shot, Heatley does, Spezza does. They can beat Brodeur at any time.

I'm disappointed by Elias, the captain. He assisted on Gionta's goal, but that's it. Gomez' is centering the line and needs to take over the center part. Set up plays which lead to goals, play forecheck etc.

Otherwise it's looking bad for the Devils. Home crowd can only hype you up and give you energy, but in the end it's the Team, the players who need to make the game.

Re: NHL Playoffs 2007

As I predicted, Alfredsson, Spezza, both have a great shot. Ottawa beats New Jersey and advances to the Eastern Conference Final with a 3-2 win. It was looking good for the Devils. Gomez' the scorer with the most playoff points (4 Goals; 10 Assists) in the Devils' Roster opened the scoring with big effort. Emery could stop the shot from Elias, but Gomez' was there right on time and pushed the puck past Emery.

Vermette deflected the shot of Preissing which left Brodeur stunn. Brodeur had a great game and he was great as always, but as I said he is not a wall. He is vulnerable if you don't defend him in the slot and the crease.

Jason Spezza is a sniper. He aims really good. His shot landed on the left side down. Brodeur could do nothing. The Devils were on PK and a player like Spezza punishes you with great hands, great shot(s).

Alfredsson scored the game winner assisted by Jason Spezza. Whole Jersey was stunn. Patrick Elias had a good game but he found his master in Ray Emery. You can say, Emery rescued the Senators.

Gomez' again was able to cut the Senators' lead to 3-2, but it was too late.
The Devils are out, the Senators are in the Eastern Confernce Final.

Re: NHL Playoffs 2007

HASEK says NO!!! to Joe Thornton and the Sharks

First of all the bad news:

Mathieu Schneider who scored the game winner on Thursday in San Josè which tied the series @2 is out of the Playoffs. Sharks Captain Marleau checked Schneider who following broke his wrist.

That is a great loss as Schneider is one of the 4 top defensemen in the Leauge.
Especially on the Powerplay he'll be missed Red Wings Captain Lidstrom said.

Now the good news:

Red Wings grab series lead and are now one game away from the Western Conferece Finals. They can seal the deal on Monday in San José. More than 77 % of the Red Wings' Fans are sure that it was the last game on home ice in this series.

Well, after you win 4-1 you're loaded with alot of energy. Like in the 3 games before, San José opened the scoring. It was Goc who put San José on the Board first after a shot from the blue line asissted by Mike Grier and Kyle Mclaren .

But the Red Wings weren't impressed and kept their game going, with more shots than the opponent, with more puck possesion and with more scoring chances.

It was just a matter of time for Detroit to bounce back. As said Detroit kept looking for opportunities to tie the game and they found one. Lidstrom's shot rebounded infront of Holstrom who couldn't get the shot past Nabokov, but Zetterberg was in the crease and tied the game.

I forgot to mention Hasek making great saves on Brown and Bernier before the Wings tied the game. Hasek was a wall in the game. Hasek was great with 9 big saves.

Nabby made a great mistake when he came out of the goal and tried to clear the puck. Datsyuk chased the pucked even though Nabby already had the puck and it seemed as if he could clear the puck, but somehow Nabokov had no control of his stick and his shot hit Datsyuk's stick and he scored 2nd goal for the Red Wings.

Zetterberg and Datsyuk, both played really well. They assisted on Samuelsson's 3-1 Powerplay Goal after a great combination. Both have great hands and great eyes, they can set up plays very well. Zetterberg moved from the slot behind the net and passed the puck to Samuelsson who scored from the right side.

Zetterberg knows when to be and not be in the crease. Holstrom is enough to make trouble infront of any goalie, because he works hard and screens the goalie really good. He has a big body and is very hard to move around. Zetterberg skated behind the net and received the pass from Datsyuk. He moved the puck around and played it back to Datsyuk. Datsyuk gave the puck back to Zetterberg and in this moment when the pass came back on Zetterberg's stick Kyle Mclaren left Holstrom alone, Zetterbeg saw, passed and Holstrom scored the 4th Goal.

In the last 5-6 Minutes the Sharks tried to come back. Pushed around very hard, but no one except Goc was able to beat Hasek. Joe Thornton finally wanted to give some momentum to his team and tried to put the puck behind Hasek with violence. In this situation only a headshot could've helped Thornton to beat Hasek the Oldie, but a Goldie.

Red Wings shouldn't be worried about Scheider missing in the rest program. We still have NHL's grand daddy playing in our Team. Chris Chelios. With age of 45 he is still able to battle with the young players and he can land a message when needed. Chelios' smashed Clowe into the boards. A Hard hit, the home crow got excited.

With the time playing like right now, it will be very hard for the Sharks to come back. Red Wings may miss Schneider, but the Wings have still a solid defense with experienced players. Lidstrom and Chelios can help alot with their experience and status off and on the ice. Lidstrom, a four time Norris Trophy Winner for the best denfensemen in the league, the captain will surely find a way to give extra motivation to his defense, because it's not over yet. Not yet...

Re: NHL Playoffs 2007

The way Ottawa turfed out Devils, they look good for the cup.

Re: NHL Playoffs 2007

They look very good. Especially Emery, Spezza & Captain Alfredsson. I'm surprised by Emery. Never noticed him before. For me, Emery was the man of the series against the Devils.

I saw the matches and you really could see how desperate Elias' got when he had 100 % scoring opportunities, but Emery still said NO!!!
