Philadelphia Eagles today suspended Terrel Owens for the rest of the season because of his off-field behavior/comments. This shows that most professional sports organizations do not tolerate indiscipline and do not hesitate to punish it. Even though the guy is absolutely brilliant on the field and can’t be replaced, the Eagles finally put their foot down, not unlike our very own PCB. The difference, of course, is that TO will still get paid over $1 million for the last 5 games of the season that he won’t be allowed to play in.
Let the flames begin, Raindance, fartguru and The Game.
fkhan can you please name some of the other pak players from the current crop who dont show professionalism? Would also be nice to hear maybe an incident that occured or something that they did that was unprofessional.
Lotay sahib pehlay tu jakarr aap professionalism kee definition ko broad karyay ga. I hope you wont consider unprofessionalism only in the context of clubbing and drinking. Hopefully you would include things like acting properly and maturely being captain of Pakistan, when you are representing or about to represent World 11. Or when you are not the captain of the side and still poking your nose in the decisions made by the acting captain (incident which took place in Windies invloving inzi, younis and afridi). Or some one like shoaib malik throwing a match away and openly admitting infront of country wide audience.
I included not only the players but also the entie PCB. I don’t want to go into detail to tell you how corrupt PCB has always been.
The point is that our whole set up is run in a totally different manner than the setup of lets say US or UK therefore no point of comparison. Yes you can always take good points and attributes from good systems but than there shouldn’t be exceptions and they should be applied to everyone and not only one individual.
Inzimam whinning about not being selected in the World XI squad, then not showing respect to the selected captain Smith.
Afridi and Younis Khan's fight during the West Indies tour. Afridi refusing to open the innings, despite the then captains (Younis Khan's) desicion to open with him.
Inzimam showing open unhappiness on the choice of Younis Khan as the vice captain instead of Mohammad Yousaf.
Inzimam publicly stating that Mohammad Hafeez has played his last match for Pakistan after his poor performance agaisnt the Indians.
