Re: What do u...

Re: What do u…

Heyyyy, i already had a thread on this:
http://www.paklinks.com/gs/showthread.php?t=181248

I guess the Mods can merge the 2.

I call it a dumb terminal.

Re: What do u...

^yeh, its a dumb terminal indeed ... nothing new I say .... the same 'ol pure client server model in place ...

Re: What do u...

Yes tofi baba, a dumb terminal indeed, & in fact it will remain a dumb idea...sorry tofi bhai, I didnt get to read ur thread earlier...

Re: [News] Small box 'to end digital divide' (merged: by tofi + mal1k)

nothing new.. the old thin client concept ..

it only appeals to it's target audience.. class rooms, cafe's or company's with a particular need for an application ..

the more things change .. the more they remain the same.. i still have 'dumb' termials on site and the future will probably look like the past.. only more GUI

Re: [News] Small box 'to end digital divide' (merged: by tofi + mal1k)

I dont see anything fancy in those dumb terminals, they are just dumb as they can be, they cannot replace the Xtensive features that a normal pc holds. Afterall they are just custom made for cafes, but I doubt if they will ever catch up.

Re: [News] Small box 'to end digital divide' (merged: by tofi + mal1k)

They have already caught on. Cyber-cafe's, public-surf-shops (like Starbucks, CompUSA etc), School libraries, i can keep going. And they are so inexpensive to hookup, way to go increasing computer use in lower class families. Pretty soon they'd give out these terminals once u get a subscription to cable.

old news…

Re: [News] Small box 'to end digital divide' (merged: by tofi + mal1k)

Like Tofi said they are just dumb terminals. Back in my uni days, out comp lab had unix X windows dumb terminals connected to an IBM mainframe running AIX.
