What startles me is that we as an Ummah are not educated enough to distinguish between fake scientific claims and real ones, we don’t know how to cross-examine evidence and think critically.

Think critically? Religion never lets you think critically. it opens the doors of heavens while closing those of reason. that is how it works. that is how it is supposed to work.

We see some strange claims in scientific work pointing to favour Islam and we reject them without investigation, but then we also reject all other science that favours Islam as well even if it has been ratified.

that is my main point. you only cherry pick the science that somehow favors your religious beliefs, while rejecting everything else.

We have become so secular that we have forgotten that it was the pursuits that Islam had us make that led to the establishment of science.

not really. it was the greeks before Islam who had started pursuing science. Muslims contributed nada to it all. and the few that did were persecuted in their times, be it Averroes, Avicenna or Abdus Salam. we give them credit now as muslims because time proved that they were right.

I think ignoring history has made you think that Islam was what made people think. whereas in reality, none of the religions, including Islam, gives you the power to think freely. if they do, then their dogmas are in danger of being challenged. since there are too many stakeholders in the status quo ( mullahs, etc) they will never want the dogmas to fall.
