Newborn vaccination

~Hi~

I was wondering when to start vaccination injections for my newborn? Someone said to me that one should give first injection stright after birth. Which injections are needed and when they should start?

Please could some of you experienced people guide me about it.

Thanks

the 1st vaccination that a baby gets is BCG (if I am spelling it right!) it causes a pimple on baby's arm which cures by itself but scar remains. Other is drops of Polio vaccine. If your baby hasn't got them as yet better hurry.

in 2nd month , thphoid and hep B vaccines are given.

my baby was born preterm and she was in NICU for 1 week so my baby's vaccination got delayed but Thanks to Allah i managed to get them done in 1st month , now she is in line with her vaccines schedule.

After birth , my baby's vaccination was hepa B. On her 1st month, she was injected with BCG. Then, 1 1/2 months she got DPT and the second dose of BCG.

Re: Newborn vaccination

Your child's pediatrician should be guiding you about this.... please consult them.

They don't give BCG here in USA, at birth my daughter was given the Hep B vaccine, followed by another dose the next month. When she truned 2 months, she was given a lot of vaccines... DTaP, Hib, IPV (Polio), etc.... I believe it varies from county to country, so please consult your pediatrician, they all maintain immunization charts for the kids and will notify you about when and which vaccine your child needs.

Re: Newborn vaccination

Yes, as MIAinVA said, you should be speaking to your pediatrician.

For my daughter here's how it's gone:

At birth: Hep B
At 2 months (3 shots and one oral containing):
-pneumococcal prevnar,
-hep b,
-rotovirus (oral),
-dtap tetanus,
-polio
-haemophilius

these are repeated at 4 and 6 months

Let me correct my statement please, the second dose given was hepa B and not BCG. By next month she will have the third dose of hepa B.

my baby is going to have her next **immunization**with measles.

Re: Newborn vaccination

@Kash 79: i think u should have received a vaccination card from the hospital. One more vaccine which they have recently introduced in Pakistan i dont know about other countries, its name is Prevenar and it saves the child from 7 different diseases. There are total 4 courses of this vaccine and in Pakistan it costs around 4,000/- each. Little costly but nothing is important than the health of our child. :)
