Immediately after lunch Sehwsg was out to a nice diving catch at short mid on. Then Tendulkar got his 2000th Four in test cricket - a classic straight drive. Next ball found a yawning gap between bat and pad.
Suresh Raina played the best inning I have seen him play. Got 5 4s in a hurry - all sweet strokes. A pull off a bouncer was a masteroiece. Got his 50 before tea. Kohli on 22. Indiax168 for 4.

India 283 for 5 at close of 2nd day. Kohli unbeaten on 93. Two pull shots stoodout for me - eyes on ball till lat minurlte. Dhoni played a nice support role 45+ not out.
Southie, befitting his illustrious name, took 3 wits. Black cap Fielding was pleasure to watch. A guptill diving stop took the cake.
For the statistically inclined 1 st time ever thee were 2 99 run partnerships when broken. And kohli almost got caught at wide of fulirst slip. If out that would have Bern the first time 3 99 run partnership in an innings.

3rd day India 353 all loiter. Kohli gets 2nd test hundred dhoni 62 Ashein 32 not out. Southie 7 for 50+ . Game on.

NZ 232 for 9 by close of play 3rd day. Ashwin 5 wkts yadav and ojha 2 wkts each.
In India’s 1st innings Kohlis running between wkts showed usual Indian weakness. Twice when Raina called for a single - it was hit in front of wicket hence was rainas call - he hesitated. First time he sent raina back after raina half way down the wicket. Second time he eventually ran the single making it unnecessarily close.
Did same on Dhoni call and finally ran single.
Have noticed this weakness with Gambhir also.
Modern day batsmen could take a cue from Gavaskar who was the best in the business of running bet wits. Loud yes no and trusting partner when they karein position to see ball more clearly.

India chasing 261 at 85 for 2 at lunch 4th day. Gambhir and sehwag got off to a flying start scoring run a ball for a 71 run partnership. Sehwag after hitting a 6 and 4 off Pastels 1tst 4 deliveries got out
coming forward and playing inside the line - clean bowled. The runs dried up. Gambhir then took out his fishing gear And spooned an easy catch to Taylor off Boult. Tendulkar survived some scary moments. Game evenly poised - changing complexion with Seheags departure.

India 147 for 2 rain delay 1 hr after lunch. In the last over Tendulkar hit two exquisitely boundjaries on the off side and Pujara followed suit with one of his own. Patel unlucky not to get pujara stumped.

Play resumes after rain delay. India lose sachin pujara and raina. Sachin bowled again off a full length delivery ogg boult. Pujara caught brilliantly at forw shot leg off Patel. Raina bowled Patel for a duck. Exciting stage. 91 runs needed.

India win 2nd test. Dhoni cements reputation od being one of the best under pressure. Finishes off with a 6. Kohli excellent 51 under pressure.

More than the stats, he has looked tentative. In this innings he was beaten quite a few times. Getting bowled reminds us of Dravidian during last few innings. I hope he proves me clueless.
