New Zealand v India Test series 2014

Re: New Zealand v India Test series 2014

Watched the entire Indian 2nd inning. India lost a wicket (Rahane in think) to 1st ball of the new ball. Then lost Rohit immediately after that.

With Dhoni and Jadeja in the fast howlers had their tail up. India needed abt 140 I think at the time. The counter attack was amazing. Both Dhoni and Jadeja went after the bowling. So yes while Jadeja could have exercised caution, the impromptu take plan was to take it to the opposition.

How do you go into a Test Mat h with 3 steamers, one of whom is 37? And the onky spinner is "sirjee" Jadeja? How do you expect to win when the only consistency you show is in dropping catches.

Took half hour off from work to watch India bat. The mercurial Steve Davis was in full flow. No hesitation in giving Dhawan LBW, with ball sailing well over the stumps. I still think this match ends in a draw. And of course DRS shoukd be instituted.

But Mr. Davis needs to be shown the way to the exit. And the door locked shut.

Amazing fight back by New Zealand and especially mcCullum. Well played NZ. Once again India's bowlers fell short and their overseas misery continues.

Re: New Zealand v India Test series 2014

I don’t get the test rankings

India lost in Australia 4-0 (2012-13)
lost in England 4-0 (2012)
lost in South Africa 1-0 (2014)
lost in New Zealand 1-0 (2014)

yet somehow they are still ranked no. 2!
ICC rankings - ICC Test, ODI and Twenty20 rankings | ESPN Cricinfo

Going by recent performances it should be:

  1. South Africa (won 2-0 in Eng in 2012 & 1-0 in Aus in 2012/13)
  2. England (won 2-1 in India in 2013)
  3. Australia currently 1-up against RSA

The rest have not won anything overseas recently

^ Agreed.

Out with Dhoni. He is a poor keeper. Cant bat overseas. Defensive mentality. Lucky captain.

(Should have got MOM in 2nd Test for his first inning hetoics)
