Ahmmm it depends where u wanna go,dont stay at times square cuz itz fun to hang out but ya only find thugs at nite,

NYC has 5 boroughs.
Manhattan,Queens,Staten Island,Brooklyn and the Bronx
Manhattan:
downtown,midtown and the uptown

Uptown,Upper east side and the upper west side.
Upper east side:ahmm expensive neighborhood till 96th st and 3rd ave,Jamma masjid of NYC is there after that... all garbage.
Uper west: oh upper west u can hang out till 110 st on Amsterdam ave,and its nice.
Nice resturants, clubs, designer stores, and if u wanna see where John lenon use to hang out check out a resturant on 70th st btw Columbus and Central park west, has a italian flag typo sign.cheese cake is the bomb tho

Juss mind it whn u comin to NYC its way better than Central london.as per money,u will get cheap deals during xmas and new years.

Middown: well alot of places to go,5th ave,6th ave, lex, rockafella for xmas tree, i suggest u to walk n whn get tired crab a taxi, dont forget to get a weekly unlimited Subway pass.wanna eat somethin desi goto lexington ave btw 26th to 23rd and grab a quick bite

Downtown:ahmm downtown is place to be,east village is the place to hang out, checkin out clubs n if u into comedy ,goto comedy club at macdougal st,also check out Mamoons to crab a flafel.(cheap tho)
ahmm for shopping choose 8th st (on broadway before canal st station on N,Q and R subway line)u wil get cheap deals.in west village its mostly designer clother expensive as London.(century 21 near twin towers is also good for suits n stuff)wanna eat goto pakistan tea house at church st and grab a deal for 5 bux there

ahmm dont forget to visit the twin tower site if u continue ur journey on the same subway line get off at city hall, and check out some nice tall buildings in downtown Ny.ahmm financial district, wall st,south sea port.etc etc...

ahmm dont forget to crab a famous flafel at 54th st n 6th ave rite next to hilton.

ahmm frm there u can also catch a NJ transit to New Jersey,if u have time.

Queens:
well queens is nice, depends where u go,the best area in queens with everythin is forest hills, rite on Austin st u can hang out ,but i suggest ya if u comin frm london juss stick to manhattan.otherwise, wanna grab a quick meal goto jackson hts (subway junction for all the major trains)i suggest goto Kabab king and grab a kabab roll for $2 and a can for $1.wanna call home, crab a callin card for $3(more than 3 hrs on a landline) cheap isnt.
well alot of places to visit depends how much time u have

The Bronx.
ahmmmmmm the only place i can think of is yankeez stadium,i guess brits dont like baseball,if u do get on the subway or ferry to yankee stadium.

Staten island.
ahmmmm na i wouldnt goto SI

Brooklyn:ahmm combo of nice n bad neighborhood,if u really wanna go check out brooklyn hts, nice n a Romantic view, rest hmm upto u... wanna see some pakis goto Coney Island n have fun.

ahmm New york suberb:
ahmm long island, yonkers, westchester, albany, etc etc... is nice but stick to
NYC....
rite now u will get deals on everything,i hope u will enjoy NYC,and spend as mush as u can,if u into Halal food,u can find it everywhere, otherwise Fish sandwich is waitin for u
i hope u will have fun....good luck
