Re: new york guppies..help

park the car in queens and enjoy the subway ride...
plus if you really want to enjoy here are few things for you

NY sightseeing... number is 212-445-0848
its sightseeing cruise.... i think its about $30 per person .. you get to see the entire city in a ship... its fun :~) you can do day and night...

then you can also sit in a double deck and enjoy the entire city.. watch crazy people going nuts early in the morning by bus :D .... i think its called uptown or downtown loop ride. its about $40 as far as i remember...

i know they also do a ride going through ellis island and liberty- i would imagine its alittle more.. but fun...

oh :D i will wave at you when you are in time square :D

Re: new york guppies..help

oh there are live broadway shows they are so nice.. i havent been to one yet :( i am going very soon...
beauty and beast plus the lion king :D

Re: new york guppies..help

DT gimme a call when u r in toronto next time

:chai:

Re: new york guppies..help

DT, best way is to take the long island rail road frm long island.. or like nia said, park the car in queens or bklyn, whichevers closer, n take hte subway.. its $2 per person, whereas LIRR charges based on distance..

Re: new york guppies..help

okay i dont know why there is this afghani guy who has a reeri close to rockefeller centre. i dont know why everyone lvoes their food...

if you are in timesquare.. dervaish is really good its on 47th and between 6 adn 7th ave... 15 bucks per person.. i think

Re: new york guppies..help

Listen to Nia.....she knows what shez talking about :D
If bringing and parking car to Queens is any trouble, take LIRR to penn station and then u can easily take any other train from subway and go to Manhattan. But the best thing would be to park ur car n Queens and then take subway from either 179 Street, 169 Street (Hillside Ave) or whatever u find closer.

Re: new york guppies..help

yeah take the Long island rail road during off peak hours and find out if your area qualifies for a city ticket (which is cheaper but only qualifies on weekends)
When you get off at penn station you can take any of the following trains UPTOWN (A,C,E,1,2,3,9) to times square 42nd street. I suggest you get your hands on a subway map.
Im sorry i've never been to the liberty statue so i dunno how to get there.
I wouldnt suggest taking the tour buses...The fun is in exploring the city yourself. what kind of activities do you guys like?
also.. do try the cafes in the village...sit outside if the weather is nice.

Re: new york guppies..help

oh by the way parking in the city for even few hrs can run you close to 30 bucks.. plus traffic is horrible total nightmare in city ALWAYS. unless you come 3 in the morning.

ride the subway take a closer look at the mice and dirty NY city :D

Re: new york guppies..help

i don’t want to take the bus. i want to explore on my own. i’ve been there and been on the subway, but was with someone from NY. this time it’ll be just me and my friend. and we’ll only have one day..this saturday.

ok..so heres what i have been able to understand.

i can park the car in queens and take the subway..OR..take LIRR to penn station and take the subway from there. any directions around manhattan? is there like an online guide or something for manhattan?

where do i park in queens?
if i take the LIRR, where do i park?
what train do i take from queens?
how do i get to the ferry that takes you to the statue of liberty?

the hardest part is going to be going around manhattan. from the remains of WTC to times square and rockefeller center and statue of liberty and stuff. what else is there to see?

i’ll take my friend to dervaish.

i could ask my cousins for help, but they’d just come along or send their brother in laws with us. and i don’t want that.

Thanks nia baji and Sara516 and shweetdreamz and NYer1 for your help :flower1:

Re: new york guppies..help

anywhere you take LIRR. there is a parking lot you can park your car there as far as i know for free and you can take LIRR from there.

its your choice i dont know if you have any idea how crowded nyc is. you be very lucky to find parking and you cant park there more than 1 hr. You cannot possibly come back fromn liberty and ellis island in one hr it does not work like that.

but hey if you do manage to get through do let me know
i would be curious to find out

almost every block i would say :) plus i listed so many t hings above id otn knwo what more excitment you wnat lol

Re: new york guppies..help

i know how crowded NY is, and i’m definately going to take my car to manhattan.

i just want to know how easy to find your way on foot around manhattan.

we r definately thiking about that NY sightseeing cruise

one more question ..how do i get to manhattan from brooklyn :halo:

thanks :flower1:

Re: new york guppies..help

Re: new york guppies..help

The really beautiful landmarks in NYC are bedford-styvesant and nstrand avenue neighborhoods in brooklyn. Make sure you visit those places at night after 10.00 and soak in the culture.

Re: new york guppies..help

make sure you go to jackson heights :D

brooklyn has tons of places where you can eat. for directions i guess you can use map quest... anoter thing www.hopstop.com for subway etc it will give youa ll the directions.

I would never ever on earth bring my car in the city during day time or bother going through manhattan to brooklyn so i wont have a clue- to make life simple where i live :D its much faster.. well depends what part of brooklyn you go to.

for food etc go to this website.. www.delivery.com

Re: new york guppies..help

If u come to Queens by car, I’ll suggest that u park ur car near 179th Stree, Hillside Ave ( you can park on any of the street except Hillside Ave, u can park any side of the street on saturday and sunday but still make sure that u can and look for the parking rules and signs before u leave so u don’t get a ticket  )
Once u park ur car by 179th and Hillside, walk to the subway which is located at 179th Street Hillside Ave, and take “F” train going to Coney Island. U’ll see Rockefeller Center on your way. F will take u direct from Queens to Rockefeller Center. n once u see rockefeller center, u can take the train again to see other places. I am attaching the maps to help u out from there  (BTW subways have maps too so even if u don’t have one on u, u can always get help from those maps)
also check this website for the directions and maps, its pretty good

PS. Sorry I couldn’t attach the maps for some reason :frowning:
