Re: new york city and newark trip
pls don't go to times sq for new year's... really... unless u want to stand in the freezing cold on one foot surrounded by drunk teenagers/young ppl who are saying and doing weird things. i had some relos visiting me four yrs ago and they insisted on going... and after that experience i was like, never again. the whole ball dropping thing ain't that spectacular, not worth it, imo. there are no fireworks either in times sq. stay warm at home and watch the whole thing on TV. really!! i'd hate to say, i told u so...
nyc is at its best christmas week, so defo go to rockefeller plaza area. apart from that, u have ur usual tourist stops - downtown area, Trinity Church, WTC, wall street bull, battery park, statue of liberty (instead of actually going to liberty island, consider taking the staten island ferry to SI and back - it's free. if u go to liberty island, the statue towers over u, so that u can't get any good pics anyway). then there's the midtown area - times sq, grand central, etc. u might want to go to the top of the empire state bldg. maybe go see chinatown one day. if u're into museums, i really love the Met and the American Museum of Natural History. The Bronx Zoo is awesome, it's the 2nd largest zoo in america (i've been to the san diego zoo which is the largest, and i still prefer Bronx Zoo). there's nothing great abt manhattan bridge, but i love walking the brooklyn bridge in the summer (never walked it in winter). what else... hmm.. i dunno if u wanna chk out Jackson Hts which is the desi area in Queens, lots of desi restos there.
ok there's this fantastic place in brooklyn, Court St. area... there's a pier there from which u can see the entire manhattan skyline. it's the best place from which to click pics of the skyline, esp at night. and they have some nice restos on montague street where u can have dinner..
