New trends for wedding dresses in Pak

Then don't make u're shirt too long.. and wear a classic lehnga/gharara, a farshi might make u look short! Play-up u're assets if u're heavy on top, have more "kaam" on the bottom and dupatta. If u're bottom-heavy, have a heavily worked shirt and keep the bottom and dupatta light!

Re: Long shirts on bridal dresses

well ive got one of my necklace made and its sath lara and that comes down to near my stomach and i really wanted to keep the top quite simple with a border and the lengha n dupputa quite heavy, im not that heavy on top or bottem to be honest...

Re: Long shirts on bridal dresses

sorry this is off topic…
but i’d really think about having a heavy dupatta unless you mean heavy border on dupatta and then scattered kaam on the rest of it. dupatta’s with a ton of kaam can be really painful and get uncomfortable as you progress through the night. they can also flatter your hair 'do completely like mine did. d’oh.
so test drive some dupatta weights at stores, if you can, and see what works for you and what you can hold up and smile in

i love this bride’s look- her sath lara looks hott.

Sheer Aqua would defintely look heavenly - It does seem very HSY with the cut and all, but i’m also inclined to Mehdi as well…i’m a bit stumped actually? :konfused:

very pretty!! would love to get this in any icyyy shade!

i agree my dupatta had border work and then was spread htroughout it was much easier to carruy

No don't think it's Mehdi, but Saadia made one similar.. so uff it just might be hers! I HAVE to find out =( it wud look even in a "toffee" color! drool

Re: Long shirts on bridal dresses

lol gina :p

i think it would look good in a darker color combo too- remember the navy blue and pale pink nomi ansari outfit? i think that combo would look really pretty too.

Actually after i saw this pic i really wanted to get a sath lara, so i got one made
its really beautiful but it came out quite bigger than i expected you see the gold bits in the middle there quite big with red stones. but i think i shud jus get the heavy border aswell..

I guess I was thinking of this outfit when I said Mehdi:

^ Yup! I'm gonna send it to a couple of friends on Pak.. and see if they can find out! I want it in a light color =(

Re: Long shirts on bridal dresses

Hmmm...seems very close to teh designs Ziggy posted. Either way...it's hot!

Did you guys check-out her shoes? -Very pretty! Btw...what's a good place to but shoes in Khi and Lhr? I like open toe pumps as they go with desi and western clothing...

^ Ehsan and Kaddam =) even Saadia Mirza has nice ones..

i love this outfit. i had these pictures put away to have an outfit made if i have a wedding party in the UK. but my in-laws are only letting me have a nikkah in december now, after i had rushed around for lahore and in only 2 days gave my wedding lengha order, groom’s sherwani and siblings outfits.
i’m having it made for nikkah now instead. i just bought some shoes to go with it the other day, just looking for a clutch bag that isn’t crazily overpriced now.

are sharara's and gharara's most fashionable rite now?

iv just been going thru some pics and it seems girls in pak have stopped wearing lengha's on their wedding day.
im coming from london in dec to get married in pak =S
so just wanna keep up to date on pak trends =)
so can someone tell me the current trends in bridal wear. it seems gharara's n sharara's n farshi lengha's have stolen the show .....
i was gona go for an east meets west type of lengha that is quite english dress like, so that it wud look diff in pak, but what do u guys think would that look wrong????? should i just stick to traditional? isn't trad a bit boring now tho?
also for the mehndi do u think wearing plain yellow is tooo 'painduufied'? i dont wanna look cheap n tacky !!! my worst nightmare!!! HELP girlies =)

come on guppies please share

Re: are sharara's and gharara's most fashionable rite now?

No, girls have not stopped wearing lengha's. I know many who recently wore one on their wedding. My wedding's also in dec, inshaAllah, in pakistan and I'm wearing a lengha on my valima. It all depends on what you like.

Yellow is not paindu rather traditional! I've seen girls wear all kinds of colors on their mehndi from pinks to blues to reds, greens even white. Again whatever you like it's your big day.

Good luck and congrats!! :)

People are still wearing lehengas, but its more fashionable to pair them with longer qameezes (sometimes even with 3/4 or full sleeves) for a more classic look, as opposed to the shorter kurtis and blouses that were in a few years ago. If you want to be trendy, I'd stay away from the "east meets west look"...the whole fishtail lehenga/"Indo-western" thing is a little played out now...

Re: are sharara's and gharara's most fashionable rite now?

whats the difference between sharara and garara and yea wat is farsi lehenga

can someone post some pics of fishtail lehenga.......i just love that

Re: are sharara's and gharara's most fashionable rite now?

My friend wore a gharara to her mehndi and a lengha to the reception. I personally like lenghas better, I think they are more feminine.

This is what these terms mean in my family:

Lehenga = straight, a-line skirt, can be full or narrow, with or without pleats at the waist

Sharara = a skirt that is cut diagonally on material instead of vertically or horizontally, kind of like a fluted skirt. There are no pleats at the waist.

Gharara = 2-legged "pants" that are fitted through the thigh and then at the knee, there is a band of embroidery or lace, and below the knee the material is usually different and has heavier embroidery.

I don't know what a farsi lehenga is.
