I’ve heard three excellent bands whose lead singers are either classically trained or try to sound classically trained. the bands are Fuzon, Meekal Hasan Band and Naqsh.
check out videos of the last two at pehchaan.com, under IFM section. You’ll need to register. Both of these bands look very good. I especially like Tanyaa (the lead singer of Naqsh). She has a very nice voice.
hopefully we’ll hear these guys for much longer. do say what you think of these guys
Shafqat Ali Khan, lead singer of Fuzon and son of Ustad Amanat Ali Khan comes from the Patila (spelling?) family. Classic raags flow in this family's blood and veins. But it's really exciting to see Shafqat joining a rock band. Classic fused with hard metel rock and Fuzon (pronounced Fusion) is born. A marvelous band.
No Samb there's a pure chemistry going on with the vocals, guitar, and drums of that band.
The more you listen to Ali Noor the more you hear the passion for what he's singing..

I love Noori's music and lyrics. But the vocals frankly suck. The vocalist just yells loudly into the mic. He has very little sense of rhythm.
If they can get the Fuzon vocalist to sing for them, I'd be Noori's biggest fan.

Bhaisab :),
I don't know how the main vocalist of Fuzon could have blended with Noori's music. Fuzon's music is classical rag fused with rock. where as Noori is purely alternative rock. There music and vocals resembles bands like Lifehouse, the calling , Our lady peace etc. I think Ali noor has a perfect bhari type voice for the alternative, like you said he yells loudly in the mic :).
I have been a fan of paki pop since I was a kid and to me by far more Noori impressed me the most among all the new comers. However I do respect your opinion. Fuzon is also good
There is much more to Noori than the pure-alternative rock stamp on it - yes they are alternative, but they are oh so much more! Their diverse music style is very refreshing to listen to considering there was only a midst of pop, phangra, or eastern kind of rock present in pk. Not to mention, Ali noor's lyrics relate and energize the young crowd in Pakistan so much with hope in stepping out into the 'real-world', aiming for the sky, and making a difference..
They are a combo of .. many things, yet still their own kind. Infact, there times their music reminds me of pearl jam (voice), the knack (drums), chris cornell (voice), and strings (faisal's voice). And PJ and chris cornel i rank very very highly..
