new to islamabad--needing advice on shopping!

Hi,
My husband and I are moving to Islamabad in September. I need some advice as to what I can get there and what I need to bring with me in the US. For example, cosmetics… can I get Chanel and Dior makeup products there? What about good shampoos, conditioners and skin creams? And most importantly what about fashion? Are there good shopping centers or should I stock up? Any and all advice is really appreciated, (especially as I take my shopping seriously!)

Thanks!
Deena

You can visit Starz Pakistan at starz.pk to see a full listing of all major shopping areas and individual shops in Islamabad. It also gives a ranking of all the shops, as well as real reviews from actual customers who have been to those shops in the past.

It also lets you share your experience at the various shops you visit so if you are not satisfied with the service you get at one shop, you can let others know about it!

hi deena,
let me know your experience of life in islamabad.
my parents want to move to Bharia town Rawalpindi with my sister who been to pakistan only when she was young. i told them not to move till we are ready to move to pak, as our relatives dont live close to Rawalpindi.

let me know how your childrens (if you are mom) cope with the school life.

Re: new to islamabad--needing advice on shopping!

'Blue Area' in Islamabad has some really nice shops.

nah the most you will find there is “Tibbet snow” and fair & lovely type products. :whistling: Shampoo! who needs them when we have Multani mitti! and chickens laying fresh eggs. As for the fashion, well you can’t do much with ghagras, burqa and typical shalwar qameez there. :hinna:
hmm there are not many shopping centres and in some entrance is exclusive to foreign consulates, so unless you know some1 in Americam embassy, you will find yourself buying tibbat snow and fair & lovely; and of course ordering fresh eggs from local bakery. I would say stock up as much as you can. :chai:

PS: you are moving to Islamabad not Tora Bora. :vivo:

Do bring all the cosmetics, shampoos, conditioner, lotions ,perfumes Stock with u.. u will hardly find an original one in PK, also bring stylish coats n jackets/sweater, shoes r optional depending on ur choice, cuz u'll find nice sandals/chapals & mucassions in Pakistan. also bring all ur small small electronics things either, they cost twice as there. rest you will find a variety of Shalvar kameez/shawls & ornaments & accessories anywhere in Pakistan
