New to GupShup - more advice jobs in Canada

Just wanted to say how glad i am to have found such a site. Although not quite worked out the urdenglish nor who the regular punters are but will persevere…

Saw the working in canada thread and having just returned from skiing in Whistler to horrid old Blighty wondered if anyone had some info on how difficult it is to transfer as a lawyer to BC. I am a uk qualified solicitor with about 5 years post qualification experience.

Any advice/info much appreciated

Welcome to Gupshup Pip1200… Whistler’s pretty kewl aint it?

I’m not very acquainted with the licensure process in Canada for foreign qualified lawyers, but what I do know is that your first step would be to apply for a Certificate of Qualification through the National Committee on Accreditation (NCA).

With your work experience though, you should be able to get quite a few exemptions from the traditional admission to the law society process.

Maybe you can get more info from: http://www.flsc.ca and I believe this is where you’ll find the application packages etc.

Specific to BC, check out: http://www.lawsociety.bc.ca
