haha yeah right. just because pakistanis think a punjabi accent isnt an accent doesnt mean the rest of the world cant hear one. most pakistanis cant even speak urdu without an accent, forget about english.

From my experience, the difference between the accents of Indians and Pakistanis is very apparent. Pakistani’s speak with less of the stereotypical desi accent than Indians do.

i have been a TA for two years for undergraduate lab courses at my uni, and have had the misfortune of interacting with numerous fresh indian, pakistani, iranian, and east asian students. a nasal "Axcuse me, how you mayyur this?" might be perfect english in lahore, but to most others it is a horrible punjabi accent. stereotypical desi accent or not, it isnt any better for non punjabi listeners.

and these are students who went to good schools. your average unemployed BA graduate Mo Lahori who'd end up working in call centers as cheap labor would be a lot worse.

Pakistan doesnt need call centers and other low-end jobs to feed our population. India has traditionally been a poor third world country and thanks to the whites, now they have another "class" that aint hungry. Thanks to hard-working and honest west punjabis, one doesnt spot a beggar on streets of Lahore or Faisalabad. Isn't it ironic that the popular sitcom "Simpsons" chose to make fun of Indians through a stereotypical Indian character called Apu?

you are honestly saying pakistan does'nt need these 'low' paying jobs??? Everyone cannot become an engineer/dr./accountant even in the technologically most advanced country like usa. India and pakistan are developing countries and we need these kind of jobs to improve our std. of living. An avg. call center employee earns around $3000-4000/year in india. And this is decent money for someone in their mid-twenties.

An avg. Indian right now earns $657/year and an avg. Pakistani earns $554/year. I am talking about gdp/capita and not ppp/capita.

i got the figures of the total gdp and then divided it by the population of both countries. Got the figures from the cia factbook website. they only had ppp/capita figures and not gdp/capita figures so had to do the calculations. Most sites on the web right now use ppp/capita instead of gdp/capita.

The official figures produced by the latest Economic Survey of India, and Economic Survey of Pakistan, show that Pakistan has a higher GDP/Capita.

man the point wasnt who has the highest income, the point is most pakistanis in the forum keep on saying we dont need these low paying jobs. But in reality they are atleast 4-5 times more then the avg. gdp/capita of india and pakistan.

Regarding gdp/capita i just searched on some sites and they did show pakistan's gdp/capita more then that of india, My mistake.

In term of ppp/capita though, india has more then pakistan, because since the economy is bigger and more competitive an avg. indian can buy more for 1 dollar then one can in pakistan.

CIA and the Indian government use different methods for calculating economic indicators. The figure provided by CIA is inaccurate. Moreover, I think the GoI would know its statistics better then any foreign institution. Check with the 2005 Economic Survey of India, for the proper figures.

As for wikipedia, I won't even bother commenting:D
