New Talent?

Who was the last person to debut for Pakistan in both forms of the game? I know Mohammad Asif did but that was almost a year ago, what about anyone else? Are we giving enough chances to youngsters? I mean we are just circulating the same old players around and around, we are giving failed players comeback matches, and we are not giving good talent any chances. Anyone notice this?

Re: New Talent?

Boby and Inzy just do,nt want to come out of their bubble. I feel that they kinda feel insecure,i do,nt know why, maybe they don,t want someone else with the attitude like shoaib or Afridi come into the side.
Atleast they should have given some new Opener a chance or two.Have they not enough of Butts and Farhats and Umars and Hameeds already?

Re: New Talent?

The world cup is not too far from now. They probably don't want to start experimenting now. Besides we have a good team only our opening position needs to be sorted out. Now is not a good time to bring someone and put them under pressure to learn fast or go home.

Re: New Talent?

At present time may not be good for experimenting with new players as you would want your best and established players to play. However, even before this apart from introduction of Asif we have seen the tried and tested players brought back to the squad.

Re: New Talent?

i agree with above comments, but there is another point...how many brilliant players do we see coming up in junior squads.... the way indian 19 crushed pak 19, i doubt that the answer is " a lot" :(

Re: New Talent?

Definetely right. Even some of the promising or talented players which were part of the under 19 world cup have not been selected or made into senior team touring party. I doubt that guys who are being crushed by India in the current 19 series on their home soil stand any chance.

I am sure there is plenty of good talent available in Pakistan but the right talent doesn't seem to be coming forward or getting selected.

Is it also the case the concerned people are also not doing their job properly i.e. coaches, selectors and the so called national cricket academy not functioning properly?

Re: New Talent?

^Pakistan U19 getting destroyed at the moment....maybe there is no future...well I always have Australia to root for!

Re: New Talent?

Maybe there is no future - especially if the right players do not get selected.

Re: New Talent?

i think you have to agree with Imran khan here ... you domestic cricket infrastructiure needs to be strong and serious attention should be paid out to it... look at australia.. any of their league team can poste a serious challange to any good team in the world.....
also i am worried about the rotation policy , PCB keeps on talking about... the only rotation i see is Shoaib injured and Rao in ... they need to give more chances to the new talent like india has done .... look at players like Raina, chawala etc
i just hope that this under 19 series happens to be an eye opener for PCB!
Pakistan doesnt have any less talent then the rest of the world... all we lack is facilities, finances and maturing the raw talent.

Re: New Talent?

PAK under 19 is getting destroyed because no merit is being used for selection. Look at players, how many different players played during this series. I have no idea if some rich kids are getting chances or these are the guys settled in Pakistan.

I noticed some players born and raised abroad and playing for under 19. I guess Pakistan is training youngster for ENG and Gulf countries.

As far as senoir team is concern, I think Inzi is counting his days and rather sticking to whatever he got on hand. All he should care (after all he is a Pakistani) is to have a good last months or years, after that it will be PAK job to start searching and grooming an other team. So he doesn't care if they have the back up or not.

Bob is a thoroughly gentleman, but after all he is not PAK and why should he care beyond his tenure as coach. So I should say in the words of Jon Sewart "Pak cricket is a messopotemia"
