Nazir Naji describes the dead pilot an extremist.
Re: New Standards Of Journalism
where did he say that pilot was extremist? although his article is a total crap in fact In general all the coverage of Pakistani media is a crap on this plane down issue. Every freaking reporter is reporting like he/she is an FAA (or CAA) expert.
Re: New Standards Of Journalism
amazing. the conspiracy theories and the spin to support your political viewpoint. never let a disaster go to waste. it has been absolutely pathetic the way people have been scrambling over each other to get as much out of the dead as possible for their political/commercial/professional purposes. leave aside the jackass crackpots who advocate conspiracies within hours of the crash.
atleast some parts of the media have questioned themselves, ideally a lot more self criticism is needed.

Re: New Standards Of Journalism
can you imagine, any of the american media on 9/11 or any other civilized media putting up so much brand-ing specifically when providing footage of a bloody plane crash? leave aside the stupid animation, look at the brand_ing in that screen shot there. "People vaporized in a fiery crash. Brought to you by Geo TV".

…What we saw yesterday in the wake of an enormous national tragedy was not responsible reporting. We could not even wait a few hours before we started looking for suspects to pin the blame on. We couldn’t even wait to verify the death toll before reporting that there were 40 survivors. We couldn’t even let a day pass before inviting talk show guests to discuss conspiracy theories. And most of all, we couldn’t even focus on what the language we were using must sound like to a grief stricken nation…
Re: New Standards Of Journalism
Already posted in another thread but seem more relevant here:
I WAS a passenger on PIA flight PK 356 from Lahore to Islamabad on July 28. It landed in the capital at 9.30am, approximately 20 minutes before the ill-fated Airblue flight 202 crashed into the Margalla Hills under low visibility in hostile weather. While our plane landed safely at Islamabad, I would like to emphasise that like the Airblue flight, our plane was also forced to fly low over the city in extremely poor visibility and after circling over it on a low-flight path, our pilot took an unconventional route towards the landing strip at the Benazir Bhutto International Airport.
This was probably necessitated by the weather, and it is, therefore, unfair to prematurely blame the Airblue pilot for that crash, as ‘experts’ appearing on the electronic media continued to do in the hours following the tragedy.
We would all do well to remember that included amongst the bereaved in this tragedy were the family of the pilot, and that jumping to conclusions before any evidence has even come to light is not only hurtful and insensitive, it serves no productive purpose whatsoever.

DC, the image does not show the complete article, read it here
Naji says tha President House, GHQ, American Embassy are all it “few minutes flight” from the airport. The aeroplane made odd turns and implies that may be the pilot was trying to crash the plane on one of these targets and someone else was trying to take control of the flight like Rashid Minhas and ends the article by saying that pilot “intiha pasandi ki taraf mael zaroor they”

I want to do to these journalists what master does to students in the Gooth school if they come late.
