New Premiership Season

Good win for us - we have moved to rank 4 but still it's a loong short for us to get ahead of Chelesa.

i m not surprised Chelesa were beaten by Arsenal - they(Chelesa) lost to them(Arsenal) without Henry in the lineup in the Champions league round.

will Arsenal win the Premiership? schedule favors them - before meeting MU on March 28th - they have 3 games against easy opponents - so i do think they will have the lead alot better than MU - but still don't count out MU yet.

Leeds 2 - 2 Liverpool

**Portsmouth 1-1 Newcastle :nono: **

the magpies once again threw away 3 vital points & that 2 at the death, and we r hard done by our own on-loan striker lomana lua lua, just brilliant :mad3:

we had a perfect opportunity to increase our points lead over liverpool and charlton but no we didn’t do it, now liverpool witha game in hand can take advantage!!!

:flower1: FA Barclaycard Premiership Table as @ {29/02/2004} :flower1: ](Football Tables and Standings - Football - BBC Sport)

how many times MU and Chelsea tied up for points and gone at second and third rank this year? Premiership has always been a two horse race but Chelsea is fighting hard.

it seems Arsenal will end up finishing first because easy games ahead - MU is behind 9 points - this maybe Arsenals' year.

as for us - well we blew it again - COME ON - draw against Portsmouth side looks more like defeat at this stage of the season!

well - here comes Mother of all games.

Sylvain WILTORD is one goal short of scoring 50 for Arsenal.

MANCHESTER UNITED

Leading scorer Ruud VAN NISTELROOY has netted 26 League and Cup goals for his club this season. He’s the second highest scorer in all competitions for a Premiership club. Arsenal’s Thierry HENRY also leads that list with 30.

Roy KEANE needs one goal to total 50 for the Red Devils.

Prem: Arsenal 5 wins, Man United 3, Draws 3

Arsenal continues its relentless march towards the premiership title with a draw against Man United and in the process have now gone 30 games without defeat. Arsenal should really have won the game but decided to defend the lead and in the process paid the price when Saha sidefooted a Giggs cross at the far post.

Keep it up Gunners. :k:

A good match between these two traditional rivals. ManU deserved a penalty immediately after Henry's spectacular goal but denied, in the end it was a fair result after Saha's equalizer.

Arsenal will win the premiership this season but CL and FA.. well this weekend we shall see with another classic up for serving.

no - it wasn't all fair and square - MU deserved the penalty - did you see how Paul Scholes beat the sh!t out of Kolo Toure? pity Paul couldn't covert a goal.

as for us(Newcastle) - we lost and fell behind one more game - urrrrrggggggghhhhhhh - it's between us, Liverpool and Brum who are fighting for fourth standing in the Premiership.

Chelsea is closing on Arsenal - they are just 4 points behind them - as for us - we are on the course of champions league - Liverpool is trying to keep the pace with us.

here are some details of Saturday’s Premiership in Photos.

Terry turns sights to title

John Terry wants to inflict more misery on Arsenal by leading Chelsea to the Premiership title as well as the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Arsenal have a four-point lead and a game in hand over Chelsea - but Arsene Wenger’s under-pressure team have lost their last two competitive fixtures.

“We haven’t given up on the league,” said the Chelsea captain.

“We have said all season that we will keep fighting right to the very death and that showed at Highbury.”

He added: "We have got great team spirit amongst the lads.

"Everyone gets on so well and that has been showing in the games.

“We have said all along that we will keep fighting and keep putting pressure on Arsenal.”

Terry said Chelsea grew stronger against a tiring Arsenal in their Champions League second leg quarter-final win and he is hoping Arsene Wenger’s side continue to stumble.

The Gunners’ European exit came four days after their FA Cup semi-final defeat to arch-rivals Manchester United.

Terry added: "Arsenal are still a great side so let’s not forget that.

"They have still got some great players and I’m sure they’ll bounce back soon, but its important for us to keep putting pressure on them because who knows what can happen?

“We’d love for them to slip up. It’s vital that we go and win our games.”

Wayne Bridge scored the winner against Arsenal and warned that the belief within the Chelsea camp is getting stronger

He added: "Arsenal are a great team with unbelievable players - probably better than us but we just have to keep battling away in the league.

"Hopefully, if they slip up then it’s a chance for us to catch up if we don’t throw silly points away.

"The team spirit has definitely grown during this season, especially over the last four or five weeks.

"When we celebrate now everybody does so all together as a group and its great.

“It made it easier for people to settle in because of the amount of new arrivals there were and the camaraderie is getting better and better with each week.”

I guess Terry forgot his statement when chelsea played against villa

^ yeah i guess had Terry kept his mouth shut for a while - this could have been prevented?

the penalty serverly damaged Chelesa's hope - it was needless - Aston Villa were much better side from start to down the wire.

Villa played amazing, that 180 degrees kick which resulted in one of the goals, i believe the last villa goal was amazing.

poor Hernan, he tried but the rest of the team just was not in it.

^ yep - it was Lee Hendrie - he turned around and scored from eight yards or so.

after this weekend, it would hardly be a surprise if i tell you that Arsenal is going to win the championship :-D

^^

but they aren’t going to win FA and Champions League this year - are they? isn’t that every Arsenal fan including Arsene Wenger dream about every year?

oh well - MU lost to Porto - Paul Scholes got banned.

we drew with Aston Villa with 10-man on the field. very harsh decision on Andy - down with refs :nook: - however it didn’t let the spirit of Magpies down - we drew the game - and just holding on the seed 5 at the moment - and have a game in hand.

Chelsea is probably gonna end up # 2 - we face them next Sunday - can’t wait for that clash - we need to settle a score!

Gunners Clinch Title

Arsenal were crowned Premiership champions for a third time under Arsene Wenger after a 2-2 draw with arch rivals Tottenham at White Hart Lane on Sunday.

:hula:

To top it all Chelsea could not even beat a team like Newscastle.

ehsan yep that was quite interesting to see.
funny to see gunners haters find comfortthat Arsenal did not with the FA cup, while their own geordie team is still trying to be in the top :)

Four more matches and gunners might create the record of being unbeaten throughout the championship season.

  • ohiiiii  we r no push-overs i think we proved that today alan shearer with a gem of a strike, marcel desailly sahab should retire gracefully cos’ those ageing legs aren’t as effective as they were in the past. :insha: the magpies will go 3 points clear of liverpool by winning our game in hand next week against man’ city and clinch the magical 4th champions league spot @ the end of the season!

:dhimpak: come on the toon :dhimpak:

  • welldone arsenal for a superb season, henry was as brillaint as ever he truly is a gr8 striker for arsenal and for france. hats off to arsenal for the way they have claimed the crown this season, they r indeed the best footie team in the country no doubts about it :k: *
