The concept seems to have been extensively covered in Pakistani serials, the most famous of which was Nijaat that starred Atiqa Odho along with Noman Ejaz. But nevertheless, anything related to cinema coming from Pakistan is good news. This actually looks like a half decent film.
As long as it's well made..no harm in showing any side of Pakistan.. Zobia what topic would u attempt?
highlighting such issues wont take us anywhere. i rather bring fantasy bring down to commoner's life and bring them the hope.
besides, its easy to take pictures of a trash-can. it is filled with colors. it is really easy to make money out of it.
the current of pakistan is pretty obvious for us not because of our fast-paced media but because they stories they are projecting on a big screen are linked to us some how.
it is true that Pakistani nation act naively unless they themselves or their any relative is not hit by any disaster. but instead of creating awareness related documentary it is good to bring them some HOPE.
where ever there is a money problem, you will get to see domestic problem. it doesn't matter whether u live Pakistan, US or middleeast!
our heros are like Nawaz Shareef, Altaf Hussain, Benazir Bhutto, Imran Khan aur some peer-fakeer i which 90% of them inherited these hero-ship from their fathers.
so i rather tell ppl success stories of commoners. where there life wasnt a piece of cake but also they were not perfect pious souls.
ps. when i recently visited Pakistan i also went to an organized-established school. they acted as they know about the problem but they wanted me to tell them the solution.
Why don't u pass-on u're suggestions to Mehreen Jabbar..and the newcomers.. unlike Seema Ghazal.. they're open to suggestions and do hear the viewers opinions and thoughts.
IMHO, Jabbar's Ramchand Pakistani was a very politically correct film and could only work in a positive way for Pak. This one however goes on a different track, I saw shots of wife beating/abuse etc. images which simply reinforce the stereotypes held in the west abt Pak. Responsible film making is the need of teh hour, though I respect people's right to express themselves whatever way they can. Soofian is an ABCD so he can be forgiven for holding such a viewpoint :)
Re: New Pakistani film by the cinematographer of Ramchand Pakistani
ramchand pakistani was a boring film...the director wasn't sure about the subject of her film... the only saving grace was maria wasti's acting and the scenes between her and the kid.
