As the revolving door turns, so enters a new coach of the Pakistan national team. Former Pakistan captain and leg-spinner Intikhab Alam yesterday became the sixth person to occupy the coaching role for Pakistan in 1999.
Intikhab follows Javed Miandad, Mushtaq Mohammad, Rameez Raja, Richard Pybus and Mudassar Nazar into the hotseat. Mudassar suffered the indignity of being replaced as Pakistan coach without a single game played.
Intikhab’s appointment came two days after Tauqeer Zia replaced Zafar Altaf as head of the Pakistan Cricket Board. Intikhab has been named as coach at this stage only for the Carlton & United One-Day Series in Australia in January and February.
