Hi all,
I recently became a Phuppo (paternal aunt) and was wondering if there are any new names or cute names for Phuppo? What are some of the names or nicknames you guys have heard over the years or have used yourself. I would definitely like to know! ![]()
Re: New names for Phuppo?
Mubarak ho! No idea about synonym of Phuppo but I call my friend's Phuppa as Phupper...hahahahaaaa!!
Re: New names for Phuppo?
how about “Hamsheefa” [hamshee = hamsheera (sister) + fa = father…father’s sister!]? ![]()
Re: New names for Phuppo?
When my nephews were little, they said "fuffooo"
Re: New names for Phuppo?
I am a chachi and mami... but my nieces and nephews call me api or some adaptation of my 1st name. I have asked their parents to teach them to call me chachi/mami but they don't learn and the cycle continues. It is cute the way they say it but i like the traditional titles lol. We will teach our kids tayi ammi and taya abbu inshAllah.
P.s. they call my other SILs chachi and mami so it's not like they don't know how to say it.... it's about their comfort I guess. They think I am closer to their age so they prefer api the most.
Re: New names for Phuppo?
pick a cool nick name..any nick name.
Make all nephew/nieces call you that. Be you phuppo or khala ...
That would give you global control and appeal over nephew and nieces.
Re: New names for Phuppo?
My nephews call me phupoo or with myname phupoo. And i love it..
Usually aani is used for khala but can be used for phupoo as well.
Re: New names for Phuppo?
i like the traditional titles the best but you can consider short nicks like Di, or phupps, or aayi
Re: New names for Phuppo?
Thanks everyone!! Yeah I think the name everyone is leaning towards is phuppo ami lol which is very traditional. So Ill just leave it up to my niece whatever she wants to call me or can pronounce :-)
Re: New names for Phuppo?
My niece call me 'Bari Phuppho" and calls my sis “Choti Phuppho”
Once in a blue moon she also says “Phoophi” in sentences
Like “Isko na haath lagao yeh meri Phoophi ka hai” ![]()
Or like most people call me “Sidra Api/Apa”
