New Moms What To Pack?

Re: New Moms What To Pack?

Towels and washclothes - I think I went through 10 a day. Believe the mothers on the board, there is nothing better at making messes than a baby or a toddler and sometimes messes happen one right after another.

Re: New Moms What To Pack?

I didn't want to open another thread for this question but my mother said that you shouldn't use any laundry detergent for washing babies clothes. But I couldn't find a special lanundry detergent for babies.... Does anyone have any ideas where I can find them or what detergent can I use for babies laundry?

Re: New Moms What To Pack?

Make sure your hospital at JFK has an internet connection so you can post and keep us updated just like 10-10 WINS (for those who dont know it is radio news). Make sure you have enough quarters and singles for vending machines.

Jokes aside:
Make sure that you ask your hospital about security with kids. The hospital wehre our kids were born did not allow parents to walk outside the room. A nurse brought the baby and the nurse took the baby away. NO IFs THENs and BUTs. Also they had an amred police officer at night guarding the kids section.

When Leaving the nurse came down and checked the car seats before snipping the tag. Oh and tag reminds me, ask them about the tag and make sure they tag you and the baby.

Re: New Moms What To Pack?

Your mum is probably worried that the detergent might irritate a babys delicate skin. I’ve never seen a washing detergent specifically for babies but I used to use around half the amount of detergent as I would normally when washing Harris’s clothes.

Babies clothes never get that filthy anyway as they have a change of clothes every few hours and get washed so often that you don’t really need too much detergent.

Re: New Moms What To Pack?

Neera, if you go to any baby stores like Goore’s or Babies r Us, they sell Dreft which is the best for baby clothes because it doesn’t have any dyes, is free of fragrance and is mild , you can even use it for your clothing. A lot of babies end up getting allergic reactions to the fragrance that is added to normal detergents.

Re: New Moms What To Pack?

Yup, I used Dreft.

Re: New Moms What To Pack?

My grandparents use one for their clothes, it’s called Baby Soft. It comes in a bottle.

Hey ILOVEMYBABY I wish you and your husband the very best of luck and pray that everything will be OK for both of you and your new arrival. I hope you and your husband have taken the LaMaze classes. Please make sure to inquire the safety in the hospital. I kid you not the first time I heard about safety and all in the hopsital, it scared the daylights out of me. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Re: New Moms What To Pack?

NEERA: Two weeks to go. hu! You must be very excited. Did you pack your bag yet for hospital? I hope you have your baby car seat installed already. Did you pre washed all the clothes of your baby?

VERIZON: Thanks for your wishes. I am gonna send my hubby007 with baby. Also sooner the baby born my hubby is planing to take lots of pictures and stay with baby till they don't hand baby back to me. We are also planning to keep in room all night. I will also call JFK Hospital tommrow to find out all the safety precautions. TLC.

Re: New Moms What To Pack?

hubby007!! are u marreid to Sean Connery, Roger Moore, or the new guy? I am kidding. Oh I remembered, if you have a pet in your house, then before you bring the baby into the house bring a used baby blanket and have the pet sniff/get acquainted before bringing the baby. Applies to dogs and cats, I dont know if it applies to boa constrictors, hamsters, and rabbits etc.

Re: New Moms What To Pack?

OOOOHHH WoW u live in NY? near JFK?? Thats great!!

Re: New Moms What To Pack?

ILOVEMYBABY, I haven’t packed the bag yet but I have everything sitting and ready to go, they just need to be put in a bag. I did get my car seat installed a week ago. I also learned that it’s not safe to use a mirror for rear facing infant car seats. Just wanted to let you know.

Yes, I am very excited and hoping that it will happen soon (anytime now). I just don’t want the baby to come late not even a day!!! You know how some babies come a week late or a few days.

Oh, yes and I still need to prewash the clothes, thanks for reminding:)
How’s your packing going?

Re: New Moms What To Pack?

^^You can always get it induced so she/he is on schedule. They call it the pit (i dont know the real name of the medicine), but withdrawl and pains are worsened.

Re: New Moms What To Pack?

wow, I cant wait too .. still half way to go

Re: New Moms What To Pack?

Ack, don t listen to Verizon....pitocin is AW-ful!!! I am (almost) more scared of that than I am of needles! If you need it well thats one thing but if you have a choice, just deal with what you got and leave the pit for use only if absolutely necessary. Beleive me, the pains are endurable naturally. Pitocin makes you wanna DIE. I had to use it so I dealt with it, thank the Lord God/Allah for my dear husband who got me thru it, calmly comforting me and massaging where it hurt the most. Thats what got me thru it....having the best coach on the planet.

Re: New Moms What To Pack?

Yes, but getting induced is not the natural way. I want it to come naturally but if it’s overdue by one week, they will have to induce me.

Re: New Moms What To Pack?

NEERA: Nothing pack yet for me at all. Tell me what is going with you in your bag?
I Hope we donot have to take "Pitocin Devil" :)

Re: New Moms What To Pack?

^^ nothing in my bag either yet but I should do it tomorrow. That will be my first priority tomorrow.

I also had the hospital tour today! It was fun and we got to see the labor and delivery room and also the nursery! There were a few newborns in the nursery and they all looked so cute. They were so tiny.
