A friend recently had a baby.. she doesn’t have family around so bunch of us want to take turns to send food to her. There will be five of us on rotating schedule… I need ideas for the food that can be easily delivered that she can just warm up and feed her family of four (2 adults, 2 kids-5 and 2) her kids are not picky eater alhamdulillah so that’s not an issue. However, three of the friends sending food are not desis so it wont always be desi food.
I need ideas for desi food that is easy to cook as well. I have done aloo gosht, chicken karahi and haleem so far.. should I do rice dishes? sabzi? if yes which ones?
quick help will be appreciated… oh and she isnt breast feeding so she really doesnt have to avoid any food.
How nice of you all! I would say that sounds like a nice menu to send. Her hubby can pick up nans etc. what about some white rice if they want to eat with any of the curries? Or a simple chickpea pilau?
Butter chicken and boiled rice sounds great.
You can also do chicken pulao, aloo tikkis, and raita
Baked tandoori chicken with matar pulao and raita would also be good.
Sabzis: aloo baingan/ bhindi/ aloo gobi with naan/roti.
Or make your famous pakora karhi!
Reha.. Yep sending yakhni over to her whenever I can.. Non desis are doing the non desi dishe's but since her hshabnd is pure Lahori I want to make sure they get their daal roti Salan too :)
I know I am not the one getting the food, but I wanna hug you @Gemini_the_Great for doing this! You have no idea how much your friend will appreciate it…trust me..!!
If they are desi, what about daal, qeema etc…you can also make something with spinach (like spinach with aloo or with chicken).Different types of pulao (matar/chana/chicken) are also a great idea.
It turned out great, EXCEPT the measurements for the chilli were quite off and we adjusted it to our own. But it’s a great dish and something different , especially the spicy rice!
chipsy.. you know If I were anywhere close to you, I would have done it for you too.. trust me
yep I did qeema matar too since her kids apparently love qeema!I can do that again.
spinach aloo is a good idea too.. I have signed up for 5 days so far and alhamdulillah I have ideas for 5 days now.. thanks to all of you
mzprincess.. this looks good but honestly due to ramadan I am trying to limit my time in kitchen.. I dont want to spend more than hour in prep/cook etc we only do dinners for iftar so I try to make something that I can just double for our families but I am sooo trying this after ramadan iA
