Malaria is a largely invisible disease largely ignored by the media in favor of sexy diseases like cancer and aids.
E.g. Imran Khan and other celebrities on the cancer/aids bandwagon.
The pain and suffering of this is quite tremendous but largely ignored-until you become a victim. Then questions rise at the lack of progress in treatment due to increasing resistance.
I mean when did you last see malaria victims dying on tv?
The malaria death toll is 6 million annually. More than all the cancer deaths combined.
It is also thought that malaria is a disease of poor people..namely asians and blacks which is true because it occurs in the tropics mostly.
As for poor people as they are malnourished they fall victim to it more quickly. However a fat bank balance won’t protect you if you get malaria as a White Man contracted malaria and died after a week.He was a millionaire. He had $8.6 million in the bank.He was well fed and drove a porshe and lived in a mansion with a swimming pool. His wife had a Rolls and a chauffeur.
More proof that being rich won’t stop disease getting you was Steve Jobs.
He was 54 when cancer got him even though he had a whopping $9000 000 000 (9 thousand million or 9 billion in the bank) and he was the owner of Apple which is worth $300 billion.
At this very moment politicians are funneling many millions into Swiss bank accounts.Stealing from you.
Anti malaria drugs are used to treat malaria but the malaria parasite is increasingly resistant to it hence the annual death toll of 6 million.
A WHO report said the 2.7 million death rate normally quoted was too low as most people don’t even report the death or even have a cause of death established. This is due to illiteracy and no infrastructure.
A malaria vaccine was tried last year but was a flop with a 30% success rate for 4 months only.
A noted pathologist compared trying to make a vaccine against malaria the malaria parasites a dead end and said it was like being vaccinated against being hit a by a bus.
A treatment was discovered in 2000 by Professor Henry Lai as noted below but because it would reduce anti malaria drug sales has not been implemented or financed as drug companies would lose money.
It is non pharmacological.
When you ingest a medicine and it does not work do you get a refund?
Asian and black countries are waiting for White Man to come with it.They have been waiting 14 years.
Even though the device can be easily constructed by a African/Asian college students for under very low cost at under a $100 most Black/Asian countries have abandoned any technical initiative and any attempt to innovate and have fostered a White Man dependency culture in which they wait for White Man to come over the horizon with his medicines.
The general populace is largely obsessed by religion, praying and politicians who will magically deliver them from death ,disease and poverty and they would prefer to listen to the endless mouthing of politicians then attempt to construct anything to make their lives better.A few people do exist but are rather like gold dust and are usually derided by their peers.
Even on this Science and Technology forum the response rate is very very low whereas the political pages are filled with vaporous rantings.
For now I will just leave you with just the basic information.See if any of you can exert yourselves just a little bit and rise to the challenge and come to a result.I don’t really like to spoon feed.
