new job =(

I am experiencing a bit of nervousness and anxiety since the last couple of days after starting work. Is this normal? Im liking work, most of the people are really, really nice.. but I don’t get too positive of a vibe from the girl who is training me. She was ‘promoted’ temporarily when another person left, and I have been hired to replace that person. My boss has asked me to keep it on the downlow because she says the girl will get really snippy with you if she finds out you’re gonna be her boss soon. She wants me to go through all the training etc and major of that will be working with that girl. Now I have a feeling that girl knows or has a slight idea, and she’s not being very nice to me.. which initially didn’t matter to me but now I am just starting to get so nervous and anxious. Help =(

Re: new job =(

Is not that a normal feeling to kind of not like the person you are training, knowing that you are training the person to replace you and not only that, he/she will be your boss. ..

if your trainer is going through that, let it be. Use your people skills and be nice and kind to her and make sure you don't change that attitude once u become her boss

Re: new job =(

you're right. i am being nice to her and im gonna keep it that way.. but all these nervous feelings im getting are not good :(

Re: new job =(

If you're going to be her boss, why are you nervous/anxious?

Re: new job =(

It has to do more with being at a new place, new people.. and not really knowing anyone yet.

Re: new job =(

that feeling is very normal Pareezay .. everyone goes through that

Re: new job =(

Relax. Thing will look up better in a few weeks. I guarantee.

Re: new job =(

I think you should talk to people around you more at work. Be social and make an effort to get to know your department, the culture there, expectations, employees, etc. I completely understand the nervous feeling you're getting though...its tough being the newbie...not knowing the rules, people, environment, etc. But dont let that stop you from making that place your own...you're also an employee there and part of your job entails making sure you can work cohesively with others.

Dont let this girl bother you...be friendly to her and understand her attitude is stemming from a place of insecurity. After all, she is about to be replaced by you and if she has picked up on it...then she might be a bit upset. Its not your fault or problem though so dont let her stop you from moving ahead in life.

Much luck!

:)

Awe Pareezay, it's just a new workplace..unfamiliar people and places..once u get to know everyone u'll fit-in perfectly! Give them and urself time to settle-in.. :)

Good luck!

Re: new job =(

Totally unstandstable pareeezay and there is no need to be.

No one expects you to know everything and solve world hunger on the first two weeks on the job.

There could be major office politics before you came so IGNORE IT and since you are new you can just play DUMB - "oh I didn't know so and so left" and use it for your advantage.

People like to "dish" to the new person so you can keep on being nice and act naive about the politics and stuff and you'll see everyone's cards :)
