I ******* hate this state! It’s got every single bad thing that I don’t live to live around. Bad traffic & signs, congested, over-priced, and quite trashy in general. But but but, given a a choice I’d love to live in Princeton area. That’s an exception. You’re like in the middle to NYC and Philly at a driving distance. Edison is not too far either where you can get the best Bihari Kabab in the Northeast. Some of the Siknis living there are also stunning.
NJ is very expensive due to its proximity to NYC. I hate the commutor culture of some of the Northern parts of NJ. It’s over crowded and stressful.

Well..u have apparently not been to some of the better parts of NJ..
u did mention princeton...but there are others like...cranbury, north edison, some parts of east brunswick, marlboro, some parts of matawan, some parts of bridgewater....all of these are pretty affluent neighborhoods
Roman, u are right about princeton, proximity to Philly and NYC is great plus atlantic city is nto too far either, or the delaware water gap area.
I was busting your chops about NJ, its a decent state..anyone who thinks NJ is crap should spend some time in idaho..yeah you may nto find congested highways and expensive housing and car insurance..but those are not the only things youwill not find. You will not find pretty much anything worthwhile..unless russet potatoes are you bag..:)
NJ is a friggin heaven compared to Delaware..lovingly referred to as Smellaware and the armpit of philly..the other armpit of philly being camden NJ. Delaware sucks so much, that if you go to wilmington delware and pick up a tourist guide, it talks about proximity to philly, baltimore and atlantic city as its selling points..what kinda lame ass tourist guide is that..
want to know some other lame states.. illinois... take chicago out and this place is no better than iowa..Pennsylvania..aside from philly and pittsburgh, the whole place is alabama..and speaking of alabama. how can u forget all the southern states..with the exception of florida.. although most of florida sucks too. there is a who's who of lame states there.. mississippi, alabama, arkansas, tennessee. then we have midwest..indiana, iowa, kansas, oklahoma... and then places like new mexico, the dakotas and minnesota.
Roman... go and thank god right now that you are in NJ and not in west virginia
thoba hai…theres a crappy stereotype…agreed that there are desi chick who act like that but that doesnt mean that all us decent girls dont exist :halo:
Fraudia, there are some rugged areas that have similiar look and feel to them. Like Camden and, say, Elizabeth NJ. It's so friggin' depressing even pass around those areas. The geography, the culture, it's all bad.
The other good state I find to live in is Connecticut (specifically Yale area). It's like the northern version of Princeton. In the middle to Boston and NYC. If it wasn't for Cricket, I'd have ditched NJ long ago.
i know what you mean, i have been to both those places..elizabeth by mistake and camden because they had this concert hall there..but i know what you mean. During my 5 years in philly i went to camden maybe 3 times and all 3 times were for concerts.
The other somewhat better area in NJ is the Dover and surrounding area. Cleaner and not as much crowded. But it's a little "settled down" feel to it. People living there have either been living there for long time or want to live there for long time.
Some of its streets remind of Murree. Similiar look and feel to it. It's a little secluded though.
Newark, Edison.. Iselin.. or the Metro Areas.. that's all Desis know about New Jersey.. it's a crappy state to live in cuz of some laws and the mfking cops but it's gets really beautiful if you drive westwards towards Pennsylvania.. the 'gora land' where you won't find desis..
my roommate bought an RX-7 from someone who lived around there and i had to drive him for a pickup... man i never knew that joisey!! deer crossings every few miles.. country clubs.. golf courses.. a river flowing right behind that guy's house.. .. row boats tied to his own pier.. easels in the backyard...
i hated living in metro NJ for the rest of my time there..

Oh I didn't know that there were that many leagues...

Hey....I'm desi n i know much more than those areas....my family lives in marlboro..which is a pretty upscale neighborhood...I worked in somerset n bridgewater, i currently live in matawan...which i think is the happy balance between the uppity suburbs and the trashy cities....of course...i'll move when i get older but i'm happy for the time being...
Oh...n btw....deer crossings are common all throughout jersey...even in edison...as for country clubs...well they're building one near where i live n theres a rele good one in colonia which happens to be close to edison....as for the rivers...well those are a common site too around here..

You guys need to stop raising your expectations after being in NYC. Judge places on their own merit. No other place can ever be like New York.

I have never lived in NYC but I have visited the city many times and loved it! What I find interesting is that many people move there but their stay becomes temporary. They move to NJ, CT etc. Why is that?
Is it the prohibitive cost of living in the NYC? By NYC, I also mean Queens and Brooklyn, not just Manhattan.

My dad commutes to NYC...he says its worth the almost 1 hour drive because he would rather have the family in a safer neighborhood...
there are just so many benefits to commuting vs. living in the city...the neighborhoods are safer in nj, ct and the school system is better...the cost of living is high but not as high as that of the city...better houses.. etc..
