Assalam alekum .
i m trying to do a small home business of personalized stuff like mugs and shirts
and even some wooden signs.
do u guys think it will work . I have some photos of my work I can post. plus it also need a good name for my gifts business
and I’ll be doing some baking with it too I. The future
any help is welcome

Will you be selling to consumers or retailers? online or direct? What would be the average cost?

You may need to give more detail.With the given info it just doesnt sell as the best of ideas but again we arent aware of all circumstances.

If so, then you have every chance it will work. (If you don't know then you need to research this prior to starting up)

Keep it simple to start off with.

I will be selling to consumers....
basically it's just a very small some business.
I m planning I make a Facebook page and sell the stuff locally.
and thn moving towards etsy shop

cost depends on different items I will be making
basically I will be making handmade gifts. With some personalization on it

First thing that struck me is the products for sale are hand made by you. Assuming material costs are small pct of the cost per item for ur consumers, it seems a low risk venture. The onky risk is ur sweat equity.

If say you spend 10 dollars for material. AND you sell for 12 dollars, in my opinion that is too much risk.

But if u spend 2 dollars on materials and see for 12 dollars that to me is acceotable.

But then I have never run a business before.

Handmade customized things can be a good sell with potential to grow. Any project has a chance of success or failure.

Setting up a facebook page was a great idea and you could easily get sales on that a few years back. Though you'll still need to have social media presence, if your business model is going to be facebook only, either you'll need to spend money on the ads to show the content of your page to the fans of the page or you'll end up getting frustrated for not getting noticed. I'd suggest you to start a facebook group instead as that will allow users to see any post you share in their feed. This suggestion is only good as of Sep 2015. With fb policies changing every now and then, it might not be a long term solution for you.

Secondly, get yourself a twitter, instagram and pinterest account as well. All of that has to be done simultaneously.

I am sure you know your products better but just one thing, making them look good is as important as making them. So take high resolution images of your products and then price them right. Remember, your price is not only the amount you spend on the material but also add some amount for the efforts you put in plus any miscellaneous expenses like transport etc

For pricing, determine what others are charging for same/similar product. Don't go way off in terms of setting it up too low or too high unless you have a solid reason to do that.

You'll need to figure out what mode of payment you'll accept and what timeline you are going to assign. Also you'll need a system to dispatch those orders. Most home based craft businesses, setup a day in a week when they send out all the parcels. You can choose to send one at a time if that's not too much of a hassle.

Its really good, I mean it. You should keep it going. However I strongly suggest you make a business plan document where you define every single thing like yr target market, your modus ope***** , challenges etc. :k:
