I am placing the blame on all of the nation, it can not be placed on a few. whether it is ppl stuck in apathy, corrupt to the core, narow mindedness, sectarianism, provincialism...the problems are not there because there are a select few corrupt ppl and the rest of the nation is innocent simple honest ppl stuck in the middle.
while you have secular crooks like samad, u have religious crooks like the taj company and i beleve it was allied..

You are placing the blame on a select group, i am placing the blame on all.

btw where these religious-political groups have obtained power, they have not done jack, unless breaking dvds and cds and ripping posters is some gauge of development :)

opression or no oppression.. the nation is screwed up due to apathy, due to slefishness and due to a tendency to take short cuts.

Before the creation of Pakistan we were slaves of **Gora Angrayz and after Pakistan was born, we have been slaves of Kala Angrayz

So the nation needs to get up and do what they think is right, a nation controls its destiny, it is also controlling it if it sits in a state of apathy and cries foul..god hls those who help themselves.

Fraudia, the seculars have got hold of regime from the very beginning, if religious parties came into power then on provincial levels or city levels, they ultimately had to obey the central government and army which is ruled by seculars.
You can exclude only Zia ul Haq who was much Islamic in his views, at least the perception about him is like that, I am not interested to know if he was really Islamic or not, otherwise all rulers from Jinnah to Parvez Musharraf have been seculars. They might be a few but they have had power, always.

As i’ve stated before, Pakistanis are confused..period. Regardless of weather they are in US, pakistan or the middle east, they are all confused..caught up in a tangle of what is cultural and what is religous, i think we have a serious identity crisis at our hands. Couple that with media influences both from the West and from India and Mullahs from MMA, its really a mess.

Totally agree with you on that one. People like Qazi have nothing to offer…in the rat race to power, he’s no better than a rat from PPP or ML. Sincere scholars would know better.

With all apologies, your approach is called a copout, when u cannot face the truth then find a scapegoat to blame all your problems. Allow me to explain.

Its tru Pakistan has been ruled by the establishment which has always protected its own interests which had western influences, but whats also true is that the religious clergy have always supported this minority to achieve their selfish objectives. When Yahya Khan scuttled electoral victory og Awami League in 1970 guess who conspired with that drunkard Yahya? Jamaat-e-Islami. When Zia overthrew Bhutto who supported Zia? All right wing parties. Zia came for 90days and stayed for 11 years, during that period there was tremendous amount of corruption which included zakat funds and its beneficiaries---our erstwhile religious lobby.

Point being, people of Pakistan have never got an opportunity to express their opinion, ask questions of their rulers or practice their right to participate in decisions through the electoral process. Allow the people to make their own choices without any manipulation, make the politicians accountable to the people and let all be equal irrespective of their religion, ethnicity or class and things wud look much better.

Yes, allow poor farmers to make their own choice and they would vote their Wadera and Chaudhary masters, or MQMian black mailers and then the same corrupt people will rule this country. Or not?

Its a process which requires time, patience and tolerance. There is no perfect system, if u know of any do let us know.

By the way, your list deliberatly ignores the jahil mullah parties (JI, JUI etc etc), given the choice, ppl of Pakistan will reject these parties for their hypocrisy, fascism and bloody record.

That would be the fault of the people who watch these shows, not the shows themselves. Besides, what is so bad in Pakistani dramas anyways. Disney cartoons are worse.

It is about being part of the solution, many in Pakistan love to talk but when there is a need of action, few show up. I mean yes, there is corruption, killing and looting in Pakistan from top to bottom but you cannot blame secularism for that. We need honest, straightforward and pride Pakistanis who will work for their country no matter what. It is not about religious or secular, it is about having believes that will ensure Pakistan’s success.

Now look at violence in Pakistan, there are two kind of them, first religious other political. Religious one we can solve, between Shia and Sunni if our religious leaders, scholars and thinkers get together and fight against a common enemy that is destroying our country for decades. How many times did that happen? How many times did we protested together to end religious sectarian violence in Pakistan? This seems to be the main problem; everyone likes to be the victim because it removes any kind of responsibility from his or her side, utterly sad state of Pakistan, where after 59 years we still cannot be together as a nation.

The political killings mean that group of military, self interest and industrialized people runs Pakistan. We need to break that cycle and in order to do that we need volunteers who will step up and have a platform that brings the whole nation together.

well the government shouldn't allow such channels to be viewed by the public in the first place, especially if its supposed to be an 'islamic' country. The whole nation is made up of individuals, and if each individual were to use what they see in dramas as the way of life and the characters in them as their role models then it all adds to the general nation being corrupt.

The stuff watched on TV isnt the only factor, but could be one of the major factors.

Disney cartoons are cartoons and people dont take them seriously. whilst dramas use people and its made to look as real life. whats wrong with them, you ask? isnt that kinda obvious?

yeah and the corruptness isnt just in the non-practicing muslims, but sadly in the 'practicing' ones as well, more like a mask of being a practicing muslim. Its really rare to come accross someone with good character. Judging from the looks is a real deception, only Allah really knows what lies in the hearts.

It drives me crazy to think how backwards our people are even after 59 years of so called Independence yet we have not acheived our dreams and promises. Quiad M. Ali Jinnah was a Muslim as far as I am concerned. Pakistan was set up as country for the free practice of Islam and any other religon that was to be. Lets get things into perspective Islam was spread 90% by the pen and 10% by the sword. Is it not better to educate and talk to others than to hold a sword to peoples necks and to kill people wheter they be Sunni, Shia, Christan, Hindu or Sikh. Are they Not all Pakistani living under the flag of Pakistan. Let us stand together and become one. The lack of morality in Pakistan and within the Pakistani culture is due to the sevre lack of morality and the sheer greed of our culture. Read Suarh ****AL-MUTAFFIFIN (DEFRAUDING, THE CHEATS, CHEATING)](http://www.usc.edu/dept/MSA/quran/083.qmt.html) (Surah No.83) and you will understand what our people are about.

**We need to realise that it’s not just about being from Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi or any other place that makes you better or even being Kashmiri or Punjabi or any other district that makes you better. **

What makes you the best is being a pious person and as Pakistani that is what we are missing Honesty, Modesty and Kindness to our fellow Pakistanis.

Education does not make you a better person than anyone else it is your actions that matter.

Lets educate everybody and I mean everybody and lets not sell our souls for a few Rupees.
