That motherboard looks nice. I didn't read much into the details, does it have an nvidia chipset? Nvidia is supposed to be good.
Also, one card for now would probably be wise, but remember when you do SLI, the cards have to be identical as far as i know. They clock speeds should match, and all that.
Having said that, and since you're just going with one card for now, i would probably get a SLI Motherboard anyways that way all you have to do is just add another graphics card at your convenience.
Quad Core is an awesome CPU, it should satisfy your performance and gaming needs equally. Which one are you thinking of getting?
Yes you're right it makes sense to get a SLI ready mobo. I think I will go with the x58.. heck I'll just get the bundle and SLI it if it comes down a bit..hehe
as for the CPU, the Q6600 or Q8200? Also the x58 mobo is ready for i7 too so when the time comes I don't have to switch out the mobo for that also. But I guess when that time comes.... I will build a brand new one with new mobo lol..
Since I will be getting the new mobo, will be looking at DDR3 memory, OCZ or some other brand? How's Patriot?
and for the cooling, do I really need extra cooling or will it run fine in normal room temperature? and how does the water cooling system work?
lol i know right. sigh It’s like you’re in a candy shop, and you want it all. lol
Personally, i like Q6600 better.
OCZ is a good name. I’ve heard a lot of good things about them, but Asus motherboards are picky. So make sure you know exactly which ram is compatible with Asus. When i first got this MB i had to swap our ram twice because originally i bought OCZ SLI ram too, but it didn’t work. So, i had to end up getting Kingston HyperX.
I don’t know anything about Patriot, so couldn’t say. :\
Here’s how water cooling works. It has detailed pictures as well, check it out:
so i just realized that the x58 motherboards will not support the Q6600... bummer... so it's either i get the x58 with the i7, or just get a x48 with q6600.... but then again i can wait till march or end of semester (may) and get the i7 bundle - prices should drop by then..
Either you go Quadcore, or you wait altogether and get the entire thing later at the time of your choice.
PS: If you consider going i7, you may need to get better ram as well. I saw one earlier today from Corsair, it's i7 specific ram. 1600 clockspeed, 6gig combined with 3 stick of 2gig each.
