NEw Friends..

I have recently moved and find myself in the process once again of meeting new people… The first person who I have clicked with and is tons of fun to hang out with is a Gay guy who lives in my building.

My husband is cool with my friendship but is a little hesitant about meeting him or hanging out.. I dont think he is homophobic…but rather I dont think he has been in this situation before…

It got me thinking… if someone is Gay is that enough for you to not want to hang out with that person or get to know them. I am not asking whether being Gay is right or wrong, or what is the religious take on Homosexuality.. I just want to know how many people here have Gay friends and are willing to hang out with gay people…

Re: NEw Friends..

i know your not asking the religious view, but i believe that Allah (SWT) has said no to these kind of things, & therefore I would not hang around these people as friends.

If i saw them on the streets or at the work place I would still treat them with kindness.

Re: NEw Friends..

hhs4462, would you like it if most gay people openly proclaimed that they believe muslims are not nice, but would still treat them with kindness at streets and work places?

Re: NEw Friends..

Married women should not 'hang out' with male friends - male or gay doesn't matter. Period.

Re: NEw Friends..

FG: What a load of crap.

Re: NEw Friends..

well i have gay friends but if my husband isn't comfortable with the idea of me hanging out with him/her, i would certainly stop hanging out with them.

Re: NEw Friends..

Why is it a load of crap?

Re: NEw Friends..

how would you women like your husband befriending a few lesbians?

Re: NEw Friends..

^ if i can't hang out with my gay friends, why should he be allowed to do the same?

Re: NEw Friends..

My husband is totally secure in our relationship...and has no issues with who I hang out..... I am not talking about a deep and very close friendship...just a casual, nice to hang out with kind of thing...

I hear ya Suroor...if I cant do it then neither can he!!!! But since my husband doesnt have those issues....then Skhan I wouldnt have any trouble is Kasim befriended a lesbian or any one else for that matter..

Funguy, I used to have that opinion but marriage changed that for me...

Re: NEw Friends..

Your husband has every right to be pissed or disapointed. I mean if you do have to make homo friends then why gays? why not lesbians?

Re: NEw Friends..

Hmm.... no i dont have friends who is gay or lesbian just chattin wid a girl she is bi sexual.
but i did'nt talk to her for a long time.

Re: NEw Friends..

well i dont think that generally Muslims “are not nice”, so i would take offense, so i dont understand your comparison.

It is clear in Islam that these things are haram.

Re: NEw Friends..

all i'm saying is if you are going to be condescending to homosexuals, they wouldnt think too highly of your kind either. nobody thinks people who want to kill them are nice.

Re: NEw Friends..

It's good enough that it's a human you have been hanging out with.

Re: NEw Friends..

i never said anything about being condescending. i said i would be polite to them just as anyone else. its not like im going to act different towards them or look down upon them.

& i never said i want to kill anyone nor do i feel that way. so if they think that, they are out of their minds.
