New external drive?

I am fiercely protective about my data so should I get one of those rugged hard drives (the transcend ones still have all those stopped working after a year issues) or wait for ssd to get cheaper? I do photography so my raw files take up massive amounts of space. 1tb is nothing and I can fill that up easily. My current one has a 200gb to go so I’m planning for the next one.

Re: New external drive?

I hardly keep any data in my laptop, mostly trying to make sure i back up everything once in a month. For that I use external hard drive, it is the best thing I invested money for.

You can get this Toshiba 500GB USB 3.0 External Hard Drive , Black. I got the exactly same 3 years ago, that time it cost me £60 , now it has gone cheaper £40 at Tescos.

Buy Toshiba 500GB USB 3.0 External Hard Drive , Black from our External Hard Drives range - Tesco

Re: New external drive?

1 drive = single point of failure
Invest in a nice multi-drive NAS device, like QNAP or Drobo. You can put in bigger drives as they become cheaper and keep increasing space. Specially if you're saving RAW format pictures you need that option.

Re: New external drive?

Will S3 be too expensive ? Its $0.03/month/GB .

Re: New external drive?

Wasn't he asking for local storage?
Glacier should be cheaper than S3 if its for backups/long-term-storage
