Hi girls. Okay so I got an amazing new jora made. I saw someone wearing it to a wedding and liked it so got a similar one designed. It has gota kaam on neck and is a bright yellow with an orange duppata and yellow pant. With pink and and orange jawamar as well on khamiz.
Now… My mom says it is very mehndi bride kind of jora. I FEEL SO CONSCIOUS!! I want to wear it to 2-3 mehndis/shaadis this year but now my mom has made me conscious. Can only mehndi brides wear bright yellow!? That too with gota work. But i really wanted a gota work dress!!
No, the guests can also wear yellow. I attended the mehndi of a friend a few months ago and I wore a muted yellow outfit with green kaam on it. The bride is going to have a dupatta on her head and sometimes they wear a teeka and other light jewelry or flowers that sets them apart from the guests.
You can wear the dress, but go easy on the makeup and accessories. If my clothes are heavily embellished, I'll do simple earrings...and skip the chooriyan and necklace.
If you are close to the brides, you can show them the dress and ask their opinion..or maybe their moms.
You can totally wear that!! Everyone wears yellow and green and that's typically what a bride is wearing. A bride always looks like a bride in my opinion unless she forgoes the dupatta on her head. You won't be conflicting at all
OP, I don't know what your mom was thinking....because that is not at all over-the-top. I attended a mehndi no too long ago...either the start if this year or Dec of last year and I can tell you that your dress is fitting/suitable for a mehndi.
^It is a cute dress. And a braid or wavy hair would look nice with it.
pretty dress to attend a mehndi as a guest :) you should not worry!

That's really pretty! I think it's not OTT, just don't go overboard with accessories like RV says and it will look lovely
thanks all. i think my mom found the yellow to be too bright lol. but i like it . thanks! i will be wearing it to a mehndi in a couple of months iA.
Rosedream that is a gorgeous jora!!! I love yellows and I totally pull them out at mehndies or mayoons. You can totally wear this but keep your jewelry light. A nice teeka and earring will look perfect.
