I haven’t seen any recent posts about digital cameras, so wanted your input. I want to get a new digi camera, it has to be small, so that it can be carried in a small handbag + photo quality has to be very good.
Here are some that I am looking at:
Sony Cyber Shot DSC - W80 but after reading the reviews, I am confused as some wrote that the photo quality indoor is very bad, otherwise its a compact camera.
There are also:
Canon Ixus 70
Canon Ixus 801S
Canon Ixus 500
Now I want to stay with Canon or Sony, but might consider some other brand if good.
And I was wondering if the cameras in USA are cheaper as Europe, now that euro is high as ever. My husband just went to Florida, if he gets the time, he will check the shops. So let me know the prices in Florida if possible, I hope they have shops as Bestprice in Palm Beach?
don't go with sony go with canon. what is your budget, there are great canon cameras from $149 to $500.
i can suggest you one thing, if you want quality, please sacrifice your demand of small and sleek camera. canon power shot G7 or G9 are great cameras but they are not as small.
those 3 cameras you mentioned above are good too, you can take decent pictures in good light conditions. but if you are a at a wedding where they have dim lights, or if you are trying to shoot at night, then those cameras doesn't provide really good results.
another thing you might need to think about is how much zoom you would like to have, those camera that you mentioned doesn't have a lot of zoom.
I also agree abot the size comments of yanzala. go with a full body camera, not with sleek, compact size. They look cute but performance is not good.
Canon power shot is a great camera as he mentioned.
go with the camera that has 8-12 X optical zoom. Compact cameras can't give you more than 3 X optical zoom, that means that you have to use digital zoom to pciture a distance object which means major loss of picture quality
ok, now i am also thinking of canon, but please guys it has to be small and compact, the one i have right now is great but too big for trips to carry around and everyone now is carring a small compact one.
thats a good idea about zoom havent thought about that... now i am confused more... either a small one or a one with opt. zoom.
check out canon powershot G7 or G9, they are smaller than most cameras with that many features. G7 or G9 is not as small but it's not too big either. i can fit in a purse easily

wow, i was going to make a topic on this! thanks haha
I've always had Canon Digicams and have been very happy with them. Currently I am using a Canon Ixus 500. It's small, light, easy to carry and takes brilliant pictures. Not like a professional camera of course, but for the usual family pictures it's perfect.
^ I got mines today as mother day present as well and well what shall i say i am happy, its great ... its so small and its decent, the features are good and easy to use, i agree with X2, i would rather have a smaller one with less features as a huge one that i will not want to carry :-)
Umer, The shop hubz went to didnt have any canon, so he had to choose between sony and casio and i think he did the right decision.
saadia how's ur camera... the results/picture quality etc...?
im in love with the sony DSC-T700.... any reviews on that guys..?
