Its been sometime (long time) since I built new desktop for my self… itching to build one though.

This is what I’ve been looking at so far:

  1. AMD Athlon 64 FX-62 Windsor 2.8GHz Socket AM2 Dual Core Processor
  2. ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe Wireless Edition Socket AM2 NVIDIA nForce 590 SLI MCP ATX AMD Motherboard
  3. EVGA 640-P2-N821-AR GeForce 8800GTS 640MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Video Card
  4. Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit
  5. OCZ GameXStream OCZ700GXSSLI ATX12V 700W Power Supply
    *]Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3500630AS 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive
    Memory will probably jump up to 4GB in the future but so far this is it… what you think? :smiley:

you have to first decide what you wanna do with a desktop. usually there are three kinds.

  1. average user's desktop, for web surfing, chatting, MS Office and some youtube/Google Earth.

  2. Game crazy nation + multimedia center, they need 512MB Video card and 4 GB RAM, BluRay disk and 6.1 channel sound card, 15 in one Media card reader.

  3. Techy's hideout, this need fast bus speed, 677Mhz+ 3-4GB Memory, duo or quad core cpu at min 2.1 GHz each, two HDD, atleast one should be Min 500 GB SATA II at 7200-10K rpm, video card optional, sound card builtin will do. Two DVD player/writer.

Anyone who is not option 3, should stick to the already built computers that go for great deals during holidays. Building one from scratch only suits very special needs.

1 but then Intel, # 2 ASUS for Intel

Its by *XCLIO *Windtunnel Fully Black Finish 1.0 mm SECC Chassis ATX Full Tower < from newegg.com.

I looked at coolermaster as well but it was missing a thing or two that I wanted, easy access to back (cables) side of the hard drives being one.
