**Delhi Gifted With A Beach Ahead Of Commonwealth Games in 2010
**Tourism Industry of India is on its boom with the upcoming Commonwealth Games that are a highlight of Delhi in 2010. The apparently dry and dusty city of Delhi is much pleased to host the Commonwealth Games and so it has been blessed with an artificial beach to attract foreign tourists’ influx. This enormous beach pregnant with sand and waves, is being built opposite Akshardham Temple in East Delhi.
The artificial beach in Sun City, Johannesburg, has inspired the beach in Delhi. The beach has a retractable roof with visuals of sky and clouds. This project of artificial beach in Delhi between Delhi Tourism Department and South African hotelier Joe Majola was revealed by Majola himself ahead of Delhi Government’s planned announcement next in April.
To make the 100 meter sandy stretch in the Delhi project, sand was brought from Jaisalmer. It is reported that the 50 meters deep will have 200,000 gallons of waters. The sea water in the beach would be would be thoroughly treated.
This beach might seem expensive for some people while some may be just too happy to have a scintillating experience on the sands of beach. You must be ready to spend Rs. 2000 (per adult per day) and Rs. 700 (per child). This fee would include a meal coupon at the beach.
If you are wondering what will happen tom the beach after the culmination of Games, then here is the answer to it. Six months after the Games, Delhi Tourism will hand over the management to a private company in return of which it will take some annual franchisee fee.
Majola told a daily newspaper in a telephonic interview that the air temperature will be kept balmy at 23 degree Celsius, and the water temperature will be at 20 degree Celsius. In Majola’s words, “ The wave making machine, Roaring Lagoon, will produce 1.2 m wave every 90 seconds. Breathtaking rides will include the Temple of Courage, a hair raising drop down a 10 m chute.”
An official announcement by the Department of Delhi Tourism will be made of this beach next week.
