New computer problem. Running too hot

I got a Sempron2600+, and a FoxConn mobo (mATX), and an AOPen H360A case (250W PS)

Problem is that this baby is running at 63c-65c (AT IDLE!!!). I’ve remounuted the heatsink, didn’t do anything. I removed the original gunk from the bottom of the heat sick, added new thermal paste (I know how to do this) and also gave the heatsink a nice shine at the bottom.

Once it hits 70c under load, it reboots (i set it to do that in the bios).

I don’t know why its running this hot. With the case open, it’ll run at 61c-62c (IDLE)

I’m thinking of getting a better heatsink, but its pissing me off that it is a new chip/heatsink, and it shoulnd’t be doing this.

Any ideas?

Re: New computer problem. Running too hot

Seems like you know what you are doing and its still hot. Try placing it near a vent.

Re: New computer problem. Running too hot

try a biosupdate. After that build in some extra fans. in take at the bottom of the tower, exhaust at the top of the tower  p.s. mine is close to 60 aswell

But I found the problem :hehe: I flashed a wrong bios on it almost a year ago :smack: I cant flash a correct one on it either :hehe:

Re: New computer problem. Running too hot

wat heatsink are you using? Even getting a stock one for your fan should lower the temp.

@Durtch_paki: You MIGHT be able to RMA replacment for your motherboard. Doesn't hurt to ask them :)

Re: New computer problem. Running too hot

the heatsink i'm using is the one that came with the chip (AMD Boxed) .... i flashed the bios as well today.. that didn't do anything.

I don't know if I can fit any other fans in there. It is a mATX case (i'll try putting all this in a AT X case tommorow)

This can’t be right

AMD says the CPU temp can be 90c max ???

Re: New computer problem. Running too hot

:konfused:

I didn’t get this … a software patch for a hardware problem? :expressionless:

Is it possible that the BIOS could cause all this heating up?

Re: New computer problem. Running too hot

could’ve been a problem with the temp sensor.. a bios fix might have fixed it.

not with my case, but its possible …
