new clothing for big day or old is fine too

If you were to have a nikkah would you automatically buy new clothes or re-wearing something old, borrowed or whatever is it ok?

Re: new clothing for big day or old is fine too

For a nikkah?? I thought every girl in this world would want a new outfit and if its going to be an old outfit it better be really sentimental.

Re: new clothing for big day or old is fine too

I am thinking about wearing my mom's gharara which she wore on her Nikkah ....

Re: new clothing for big day or old is fine too

^ aww...thats sweet PR

I would wear something new.

Re: new clothing for big day or old is fine too

Thanks stardust! If for some reason it doesn't work out ...and I can't do that. Then I will definitely wear something new.....

Re: new clothing for big day or old is fine too

I would prefer something new, unless ofcourse it was something that was passed down from generation to generation. I do not see myself wearing something of someone elses or something re-worn. Its not bad but if you are in the state to afford something new I think you should.

Re: new clothing for big day or old is fine too

if i can get a new outfitt.. y not ? :p :D

Re: new clothing for big day or old is fine too

awww, isnt that sweet :)
yes sure u can wear ur mom's gharara, that would be so nice ..

Re: new clothing for big day or old is fine too

unless it is one of your moms wedidng outfits that is old you can always wear that...otherwise new works...

Re: new clothing for big day or old is fine too

I wore new, but back in the day in my family the girls would wear a saree with a stamp patten (i think its called chapa?) so I wore that the night before the nikkah while getting my mehndi done with all the girls...my sister got married last year and she asked to borrow my saree for the day before her nikkah.

My cousin is going to get married this summer and has asked to borrow it too :-)

Re: new clothing for big day or old is fine too

I want to wear my mom's valima gharara for my nikkah inshaAllah. I was in love with it since childhood! It's very simple but gorgeous!

Re: new clothing for big day or old is fine too

i had my Eid dress...my nikah was a little cermony..cos rukhsati was after 6 months..

is it the bihari red chapa sarriii?? i got to wear that for the nikah....i honestly think its pretty flashy and not my thing.. but i got to wear it and i dont mine..ill sexy it up!

ahah

I would wear my mom's gharara if i was in love with it! defn, make it fitted and wear some contrast jewellery

Yup..The red ones are flashy, mine was done in a dusty pink so the flash factor was much lower :-)

Re: new clothing for big day or old is fine too

I would defn wear something new

Re: new clothing for big day or old is fine too

my mother has a very beautiful gharara(combo of pink n silver)....i'll definitely use it on my nikah , mehndi or whatever...but i have to wear it

Re: new clothing for big day or old is fine too

i wont get married if i cant wear something new.

and anyways, wearing ur mom's outfit doesnt count as wearing something old, because thats full of sentimental value and/or is a traidtion.

Re: new clothing for big day or old is fine too

Looking back I would have worn my mom's gharara on the Nikkah (which was done a couple of days before the ruksaati). Reasons: Sentimental, Elegant, Traditional, Personal:)

Re: new clothing for big day or old is fine too

All depends on what you can afford and what kind of look you want to go for. I think most people would go for something new, unless, as others have mentioned it is for sentimental purposes.
