New Born Baby

Salaam All,

Any novel ideas for a present to a couple with a new born baby?

I guess they get so many babygrows, booties and hats sosomething different would be welcomed!

Yeah...a trust fund worth about $2.2 million. Spence and or Fieldston in NYC costs about $40k a year. Plus Yale in the year 2021-24 will run about $75K a year. You can add...ski vactions and piano lessons, tennis and hockey acadamies....japanese and French tutoring...Clothing from Barney's and Summer trips to Cote D'Azur.

Neely, how about a baby gift basket with cute baby things in it, or better yet a Tiffany's baby plate/glass/spoon giftset?...these only like $110 or so. Depends on the relationship you have with the person having the baby. You can either be nit-picky $-wise or go all out and splurge.

:)

Thank God I don't have give any baby gifts.

ear plugs.

Channji, it is ok. I can always sell my body to make some extra cash. Aleast the kid would have braces.

Roman: Just staying away is enough of a gift.

FF: Hint Hint

My sister gave this for some friends of her's and I thought it was a great idea. Her logic was that people always gives clothes, toys, and other gifts for the baby for immediate use. Since babies grow like weeds and parents need new clothes every 3 or so months, why don't you buy some really cute outfits for the kid for a 6 or 9 month old. New clothes when s/he is 6 or 9 months.

Clothes shopping for a baby girl is so much fun! They have all these cute little dresses and hats and everything! absolutely adorable stuff. Have fun shopping!!!

My gift to any baby would be to give "gurtee". Matsui, I can still give gurtee even to you. You have not grown up beyond a baby.

PS-
For those who don't know it, gurtee is usually a little honey dip on the finger given to a new born by an elder. As the legend has it, if a gurtee giver is a good person, the baby grows up to be a good person too.

Idea is not bad... just make sure you keep in mind the difference in weather. It is hard enough trying to buy winter clothes in summer and vice versa. Plus the styles go out of fashion too. So one has to be careful if trying to stay ahead of the curve, so to speak.

If all else fails, give a Gift card from Babies R Us or something like that.

and you think getting a gurtee from you will be a gift? I would recommend keep the baby away from your shadow until he turns 18.

Chann ji, meri tarbeet che raiyay ga tay achha sharabi banay ga.

Channji, yeh Amber Alert is all because of the gurtee business. Roman, can you say "State Troopers"

?

I agree with you! Shopping for little ones is sooooooo much fun. I can spend an hour in Baby Gap going, "ohhhhhh", "awwwwwwww, I wanna buy this". I feel so fertile after window shopping at Baby Gap.

Mehnaz sweetie..whenever that feeling comes on, jus think about baseball. :)

This thread has become so girly. Matsui, stop contributing to it.

As Fasial suggested gift vouchers are always good, that way the parents can choose what they want. Avoid buying clothes in the newly born sizes as most new parents will have way too many of these and teh baby will probably grow too quickly to get a cahnce to wear them. If all else fails, offer to babysit or take the baby out for a walk in the pram etc.....its a better idea than you think and always welcome!

What I always liked, was Anne Geddes stuff, a baby book of her, I adore her books, she has the cutest baby photos.
