New beginning!

I know with the govt at helms of Zardari and to an extent Nawaz Sharif its hard to say “new beginning” but may this really be a new beginning. May God show us all the right path. May God unite us all against the ills of the society, the foreign hand of militancy (and its local support), may God give us courage to all of us to be able to criticize people/leaders we supported, may we work together for the betterment of our country. May God give us strength to prosecute all criminals of all political parties, may the true and independent justice prevail.

I know Mush has been forced out successfully, now our energies should be spent on monitoring govt excesses, wrongs of the current govt (hopefully we will not compare with past govts and say its atleast better than that).

Re: New beginning!

Well-said.

I hope the Media continues to criticize the Govt. and leaves the past behind. Public Scrutiny is the buffer that keeps Politicians from turning corrupt. I hope media keeps that buffer on high.

Re: New beginning!

The present lot knows that this isnt the 90s anymore. The civil society, with the media and the lawyers kicked out a bloody dictator who thought he was some supreme badshaah, and zardari/NS shouldnt forget that. I also hope our army continues to be neutral and remain outside of politics and give these politicians time to work it out. If they do a bad job, I hope the new budding politicians, most notably Imran Khan capitalize and bring their parties in a position to win the next elections. If all goes well, this will be the first true democratic govt which would complete a full term in office.

Re: New beginning!

I surely hope Imran Khan gets smart and learns to dance with the devil. That's the only way to beat the beast at its' own game.

He needs to induct known public figures like Aitzaz Ehsan who have been brushed aside by PPP thus far and form a party that public can identify with on all fronts, whether it's economy, the law and justice, or just plain Pakistani interests.

Re: New beginning!

Imran and Aitezaz together, excellent idea!

I am sure the free media that has now existed for the past eight years will make sure that things are reported as they are.

What is most needed is long term stability and unity in the coalition government, allowing economic growth and development. I sincerely hope that the government governs for the full term and does not find anything to argue about, that will take their mind off the issues at hand and delivering on their promises.

God Bless Pakistan.

Re: New beginning!

^ What blasphemy, Aalsi!! Your entire post had no mention of "Great President Musharaf" and nor is there your stump phrase "Greatest Leader since Quaid-e-Azam". Of all the people, I never expected you to turn your eyes from your hero so quickly. Bad bad, Aalsi, very bad. :-|

Re: New beginning!

Actually, Pakistan's problems are sort of intrinsic and there is little hope of any recovery untill drastic changes in the system take place including changes in the constitution, federal structure, and foreign policy.

Re: New beginning!

The fears is, a new cadre of military leaders has asended the power-hierarchy in army that is more hawkish than General Aziz Khan, General Usmani, General Mahmoud Ahmad, etc. as for foreign policy is concerned (which is partially in control of the army).

Re: New beginning!

Zardari, nawas in command. How is it new? seems more a flip back by 20 years

Re: New beginning!

I am tired of new beginnings.

Re: New beginning!

New beginnings....Old goons.

Almost both in command at same time, isn't that new? :D

When was "impeachment" of President heard of in Pakistan? Two big parties joining their power together?

Hopefully they will join only for the good causes but will keep scrutinizing each other's move and follow law.

:k:

ameen…, especially yahan jo political parties k chumchay bhetay hain…they better realize this thing…otherwise Pakistan will always remain the same, or worse.

Re: New beginning!

Hope that with this chapter closed we can see some positive news in the country and positive direction on the myriad of issues ranging from FATA and militants, to economy and inflation, and the foundational areas of health, education, social services, and law and order.

Re: New beginning!

spock, as good as it is to read about the rally today, I woukld be more interested in seeing the approach to more foundational areas as I noted. I hope what you posted is indicative of deliberate and planned moves by the govt to make the right polciies, allocate teh right budgets, assign the right leadership and set the right targets..and meet them.
