So this cover and the accompanying photos seem to have stirred up quite a bit of controversy amongst desis.. For those outside the UK the girls featured are from a reality tv show called The Only Way is Essex, sort of like a UK version of The Hills but with 10x more fake tan, plastic and makeup..
Anyway, any thoughts?

^I like it (apart from the slightly ott airbrushing) but I'm biased :D
I don't see the big deal in putting non-desi celebs or models on covers now and again.. Some magazine (might even have been this same one) featured the Sugababes once in similar pics and it was nowhere near as controversial so am thinking it may be more to do with the Essex image (loose morals or a perception of them not respecting desi culture or something) rather than the fact that they're not desis..
Lucy and Jess both look great..
Lucy often looks a bit awkward/off in photos even tho she's v.pretty in reality but here she looks nice..

Agree with Deeba - nobody made a fuss when they had Sugababes or Alesha Dixon was on the cover. I saw this magazine in the shops, (and I'm talking about a big WH Smith in the city centre here) and it had a very prominent place on the magazine stand, I don't know how this shop organises its magazines, but I think if it didn't have the TOWIE girls on the front cover it wouldn't be displayed in such a prominent way.
Asian Woman need to sell magazines and if this is the way to do it, by getting "popular" people on the cover, then I'd rather they did that then stop publishing their mag altogether. Wouldn't want them to go the way of Asiana Magazine and stop publishing their print version.

I foolishly bought the magazine - i was intrigued by what asian woman will do now they have less competition in the print market (asiana is no longer in print - online only) and i was truly disappointed!
The Towie girls looked mega tacky! they are dressed in complete trash! seriously - their outfits are awful
throughout the magazine models are dressed and styled badly. i don't buy Asian magazines for the articles - i buy for the pictures and there was not one outfit that i liked
other than guls style and rana noman the ads are by newbies - no offence and nothing against them but what asiana did was ensure quality control by what i am guessing was dictating how the ads were styled - asian woman doesn't appear to do this so what this results in is really unprofessional looking ads with the owners relatives posing in clothes.
There is also a whole 'beauty' section taken over by a group of make up artists and it looks like it was was transvestites!!
i am really disappointed - i hate wasting money and this magazine has a long way to go - for the time being it looks very low quality and i will be very surprised if it lasts.

Is Asiana really not in print anymore?
Asiana using caucasian models made up to look like desi brides always seemed quite dodgy to me.. as well as lightening the skintones of real desi models by like 15 shades lol..
Asian Woman is quite cheap looking but seems like just a bit of harmless fun and dressing up to me.. Asiana was like it's glossier posher big sis..

Yes, only Asiana Wedding is in print now, the other ones have just been sidelined to their online website.
I dont see a probelm with seeing white/black girls advertising clothes. Bees Jewellery had a really good catalogue last season with a pretty black girl advertising their product. I just dont like the tacky Z-list celebs being used, that;s all.

It doesn't bother me at all that 'white' girls are on the cover of an asian magazine. People always turn something into a negative thing. Everythings always about race/religion BLAH BLAH. Its really annoying tbh! And it's true..why didn't they cause all this fuss when Alesha dixon was on the cover?? Talk about being choosy with your hate! Just because TOWIE girls are seen really negatively..uff!
