Meanwhile netflix has announced two major moves as well
EXpanding netflix to 200 countries… I hope it includes Pakistan .. yaayy
Not renewing licenses with major movie distributors focusing on its own series after success of famous shows like Orange is the new black, House of cards etc.
Have both and prefer Netflix. Never even watched anything on Amazon prime ... don't think they have as much to offer as netflix. And on Netflix you get OITNB!!!!
DirecTV guy @ Scams club: Sir, how much do you pay for cable?
Me: $0.00
DirecTV guy: For less than $1 a day... wait did you say $0?
We cut the cable about 5 years ago and never looked back. OTA+netflix+Amazon prime, covers everything we want to watch. Content-wise there is a lot of overlap between netflix and amazon, but quality wise netflix is better. It works better even on Fire TV stick.

SID, that’s been my biggest belly ache…missing out on Monday Night Football, now that we’re getting rid of Cable The digital antenna will take care of local channels (cbs, nbc abc) but what am I going to do without ESPN
OTA=over-the-air aka antenna… football.. i watch what i can over the weekend…not for lack of channels..but lack of time…
@khattichic
MNF matchups have been weak for the last 3 seasons… so you wont miss much… unfortunately for you, some cowboys’ home games could be blacked out for you if you go with antenna
thats exactly the worry why i dont get off the cable. I and my brother are both big fans of NFL,NBA and MLB. We try to watch and debate almost every popular game. And thats why i dont get rid of cable.
Also my provider is cablevision which gives a good deal with phone and internet which we’ve to use either way. So it isnt that expensive at my end.
Interested in this thread. We have cable Netflix and amazon . And r wasting money since hardly watch cable. Stuck in rut. Maybe some smarty pants can advise?

This reminds me, did you say you installed kodi on a raspberry?
@OYMWA I'm interested to know your OTA or antenna setup? what steps did u follow for that or where did u get it from?
Can you watch all prime American channels in there?
I don’t ever watch TV. Like … ever!
But if there are shows I need to watch/ binge watch, I either prefer Netflix. And if netflix doesn’t have it, I use ShowBox (android app) or stream. :halo:
I love Netflix. Hardly ever use Prime. Never gave Hulu a fair chance.
For the TV I have this one: Amazon.com: Mohu Leaf 50 Indoor HDTV Antenna (formerly Leaf Ultimate): Electronics. National channels, I get ABC, FOX, NBC & CBS. For kids, we get PBS, GPB( public broadcasting, carries kids programs till 6 pm and then news after that ), PBA ( another public broadcasting ) and qubo ( 24 hour kids programming ). Then there are several other channels in HD and SD, including Peace TV, Iqra, Ion, upn, several spanish language channels ( soccer, yay!! ), etc. Something like 67 channels in all, but we probably watch about 12 regularly.
For my PC I have this one: Amazon.com: TERK Amplified Indoor HDTV Antenna: Electronics. Had to install a tv tuner. I use this to record shows, mainly kids’ shows. I also have a AirVideo server running on it, so I can stream the recorded content to our ios and android devices.
Both these antennas come with amplifiers, in my opinion, it is better to invest in an amplifier that boosts both uhf/vhf signals.
What you get and how your antenna performs depends on a lot of factors, eg. distance to broadcast tower, elevation, type of antenna ( directional vs. non-directional), amplifier used etc. I use antennaweb.org to figure out where the towers are and the kind of channels to expect.
Been meaning to get a bigger antenna and a better amplifier and move the whole setup to the attic. My house is already pre-wired for a satellite dish in the attic, so shouldn’t be too hard. Never got to it this summer.
