Re: Netcat

:D

khair..
how is it going in UK? and how r u finding Uni and the courses waghera? you're doing cryptography right? do you find the syllabus in the UK unis cutting edge on the topic?

Re: Netcat

so far its okay ... theek hai. The course is not very technical ... I mean there are so many things that I'm learning that are very vital for a security policy ... so many non-technical things. Most of the course is self-study etc etc ... they've given like four assignments already and ... puff ... We haven't started anything technical as yet .... just warming up at the moment :p

I can't say if the syllabus is cutting edge cause it all depends on what's delivered, but what I can say is that there is a lot of involment from the industry ... I mean, the professors at the uni are in touch with high profile people at the government as well as the industry (visiting lecturers) and they've got some solid contacts which might prove to be useful in learning as well as getting a job :p

Re: Netcat

Hmmm I see. That sounds very different from the teaching style in American unis. There is more emphasis on cutting edge "technology" and the very first assignment is a techie one in nature in such courses. British uni system was always a bit more fuzzy in the technical areas. I think though that's cool, will probably give you a more well rounded education :) Plus I'm sure its going to get more technical as you progress though most prolly I guess. Good luck :)

Re: Netcat

I don’t think its going to get very technical … atleast they won’t be teaching it in class. However, we do have to submit a report that requires the assessment of the latest technology in Network security .. so its more of us doing the research etc. I think at a Masters level they teach you how to critically analyse reports/papers and teach you to critically weigh things … broaden your horizon bla bla bla … I think this is when you really learn to keep learning … its more scholastic you know :smokin: (not the lakeer kay fakeer type)

Re: Netcat

Irem you sure the professor is not a former member of G Force. Inquiry karo pehlay :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: Netcat

^ i think g force is a bunch of script kiddies, you cant really call them hackers, same goes for indians "hackers" too.

a hacker is one who can break into a system with out using any known vulns, script kidies on the other hand use the vulns discovered by the hackers to break into the systems.

look at me another wannabe :D

Re: Netcat

^yeh that's what skiddies do ... they use the vulnerabiliy along with known, existing shell codes and throw in already available 'replication' and 'propogation' code ... which results in a virus ....

Re: Netcat

the main difference is hackers know how to code and skript kiddies dont. They both exploit the vulnerabilities and may be using the same tools :>

Re: Netcat

^ ufff ... kya definition mari hai ... errr .. I mean devise key hai .... bohat Aala ;)
