don't buy my advise ... useless ... better to buy a smartphone instead ... if u want to browse internet & emailing ...

Sinner, why do you say that? It has its uses. Not many people can get around smartphones like they can a laptop. And it is pretty light so can be taken to more trips than a regular laptop.

I personally have a tablet PC which i use for presentations, watching videos on the go etc.

Well, i recommend the intel atom as a laptop... and asus for 10" screen laptops. Its so easy to carry and do almost everything... instead of a tablet pc.
Plus HTC as a pda.
Tablet pc's are a bit fragile.

hmmm .. its my personal opinion ... if u want to do only internet browsing/email .. get a smart phone ... it fit in pocket & 24/7 access (* conditions apply) ... ;)

yeah if you want to do more .. watching movies / downloading torrents .. go for netbook ... but it will b xtra weight ... don't fit into pocket

but it totally depend on your purpose ...

I use the Dell netbook for work when I am traveling and I LOVE IT.

Can you reformat netbook just like a PC and do they come with CD-rom drives or just standard USB ports?

currently supporting acer aspire one and asus eeepc.. which are pretty much almost identical in usage.. both SUCK due to SSD (solid state drive) ..

catching up wifi signals is strong point for both.. very good battery life .. no built-in cdrom .. so anything on cds need to be copied over to usb/external cd

if its SSD, its a hassle to install windows.. i successfully installed a light-weight custom installation of xp on aspire one and got it to work with all drivers and
no " ! " marks in device manager after a lot of googling and brain-damage.. after a general usage of 1 day, reverted back to original, intended operating system. . (some linux flavours) which worked great and carried basic functionality which is promised and expected from these lil things..

neat lil machines for non serious work, specially if kids/guests in the house need to use internet/related stuff or out of boredom..

i will recommend however to get the one with a spinning hard drive.. battery life will be a bit low in that case, but it will be... less frustrating... (something about hard drive's working noise that calms me down)

the vast majority of people use their computers for minor stuff, all that firepower of a fully loaded laptop is unneeded, as is the bulk.

the question really becomes what is important to people, some may need the flexibility to have the power, the ports, the dvd drive etc, others may want a lighter device and deal with the hassle of external hard drive etc every so often when they need it.

Eh, I have an Aspire one with a 160 GB HD.

I'm currently running Mac OS X 10.5.6 and Windows 7 on it, runs smooth and never had any problems with it so far.

I even installed a touchscreen-kit. :D
