can someone please give me some information about .NET
what it is? what do we do? some certification etc ?
how long does it takes and how much does it costs
i have been offered job twice but they needed some one who could work in .NET as well.
I have little experience in VB6 ASP and mysql from 2003 but I am good with C, C++ and JAVA. Would it help ?

In terms of learning it, if you have prior experience in software development, it's going to be just a matter of learning about the standards and specifications of .Net - like the common language interface and class libraries, and principles that help in development and deployment of technologies. Picking up a couple of good books (check reviews) from your nearest bookstore is all you need to get going with this.
In terms of certifications, I think there is an MCPD cert for a .Net ASP developer track which requires one exam and there is a more intense Enterprise Application Developer track which requires multiple exams.
