Re: Neo-Cons Killed Conservative Movement
This defeat is the best thing that could ever happen to the Conservative Movement. Now these leeches would allign themselves with the Liberals, where they actually belong and the conservatives can return to being more Buchanan than Gingrich.
Re: Neo-Cons Killed Conservative Movement
I call it the Rove Garden.
The Rove Garden
There is a garden outside next to the Oval Office and the West Wing of the White House known as the Rose garden, it's quite large, 123 feet by 60 feet and was put in by Presidents Wilson's wife, Ellen Louis Wilson, in 1913. It's very well define and quite beautiful. But what's so impressive about it is how many types of roses it has, the grandflora rose, the tea rose, even one called the shrub rose. After the 2004 election it would have been appropriate in renaming the Rose Garden the Rove Garden, after Bush's friend and advisor, Karl Rove. What a fitting tribute it would have been, after all it was he who got Bush to the Rose Garden. It was the seeds he planted that propelled Bush into remarkable and unlikely election wins. Rove knew exactly how to grow support, give him a crack between 2 sidewalks and some sunlight, artificial preferbly, and he'll give you a nursery. He was the political florist. But there was a problem with the Rove Garden, he planted to many seeds only to find out that there wasn't enough water for them all and that they all needed different climates to survive.
Take a look at the how blue the political map is today (post November 7, 2006). Just 2 years ago back in 2004 states like Ohio were dripping red and the fear that the the Rovian dream of creating a 3 sided Republican government that could last for years looked to have come true. Rove successfully penetrating the north with the religious right leading the charge. They won, but as Rove knows, there is always a battle ahead. So while Rove was busy nurturing and planting more evangelical seeds when he wasn't in and out of grand juries the rest of the GOP garden was becoming over crowded with flowers that didn't mix.
There were those fiscally conservative flowers who grew increasingly discontent toward their President as he spent more and more money creating the largest deficits in history.
The moderate conservative flower near the center now being forced towards the extreme right, making some wonder where the party was headed.
The evangelical flowers were getting feisty by the lack of family issues Bush was calling for, after all they won him the 2004 'moral' election.
The Black flower targeted for expansion in 2004 were now washed away by Bush's Katrina failures (there were only 6 black flowers and they didn't look right in the white Rove garden anyway).
Each of these flowers have different needs and they weren't being met. Rove had thought after the 2004 election that the evangelical flower would grow well in the Mid-west, it ended up not taking root.
Surely the Iraqi war, Corruption, and Foley pesticides infected each of the flowers in various ways but in the end it was the lack of water, the lack of care each flower demanded that caused them to wilt in November 2006.
So what's left after the great frost of 2006? Well, a lot of moderate Republicans happened to be the victims and what's left standing is a greater percentage of far right Republicans and this bodes very, very, poorly for the GOP as this country does not want the far left or far right. So while the GOP might do well in the south where that type is welcomed the Dems have broken out and are in the North, West, the East, the Rockies, the Southwest.
Meanwhile the Rove Garden is left with 1 Bush and a bunch of pricks that the majority of the country does not like. The GOP is in serious trouble.
