In these troubled times an interesting scenario comes to mind.
Now Good heavens forbid this ever happens to anyone, however its something that has always been going on throughout human history.
Suppose some day somone close to you or someone that you have a responsibility to gets into a very bad situation… let me highlight this for you.
The following is what has happened.
Somone close to you is now held hostage by some millitant group. Said group is known to have good reason to make an armed struggle, something which may have been brought about by wrongs your own government did to them… they have made a ransom demand, so far they have kept your loved ones safe… if you dont pay they will suffer and most probably die.
What would you do?
On the one hand the Ransom is not so huge that the resources your offered wont cover it… however
On the other hand your being advised by Government/police/army to not listen to the demands…
The hostage takers have direct method of contact and have history of sticking to thier word, your able to speak to them briefly… they are very serious.
The forces of your own government are also very serious and urge you to consider matters carefull suddenly your crises is a national one…
Would you pay the ransom?
Would you refuse?
Why?
I will give my own answer shortly.
