well, have you guys noticed how every time the western journalists make some documentary on South Asia, they always project the dirty,poverty sticken side of it??? they go to the flithiest places to shoot thier films.never show the “posh,urban and modern” side of it.
like they havto find some ganda sa galli in Mumbai with cows living on it and shoot it as if it were the main road.
same is with the dirty dirty roads that they show of BD and the poor living condition.
and some times back(more accurately,months) they showed a documentry on Lahore or where ever Meena Bazaar is, and showed how womans are forced into prostitution evryday in large numbers. and of course they didnt forget to shoot the gandi roads and poverty. whereas on net, i have seen some awesome pics of urban Pakistan.
do the multiplexes,malls,posh resturants,natural beauty blah blAH go un-noticed from their eyes??

if media show the positive stuff then westerner prefer to move to south asia.
not only cuz of the weather, but also diversity of land, and also standard of living gets high with the dollar.
even right now we see tremendous amount of growth in India. for Pakistan i doubt (ya it hurts).
there was a project done by Geo in 2004 in which a britisher came to Pakistan, n he suppose to be Pakistani with in the period of 6 months. in that span of time he get to see several faces of Pakistan (that even many pakistaniz never saw themselves).
in that program, he condemned westerners and the way they portray Pakistan.

I dont know what programmes you watch but I have seen many programs recently which shows South Asia's growth and high rise building and new found materialistic life styles. Recently there was 20 minute section on 60 minutes dedicated to BAnglore's growth. Fact is that 90% of south Asia is crowded, filthy and have cows on road. If 90% of area is like that you cant blame journalists to ignore it.
None of multiplexes goes unnoticed but if a topic is about prostitution then they are not gonna show multiplexes. Prositituions usually happens on those filthy galis and that is what is shown.
I have seen exact same arguments from many desis complaining about how Media potrays us. They are the one usually who are not aware of realy South Asia. They live in their little colonies and think that is what their country is. Go to those slums, small cities, villages to see what the quality of life is. Many of these friends of mine get offended by seeing that and feel embarassed, I see them opportunity to work with people and to fix them. By closing your eyes, problems dont go away.Problem are still there and they are shown on TV.

maybe because the majority of ppl don't actually live in the posh, westernized parts of India/BD/ Pak??? No doubt that there are plenty of beautfiul places, but frankly that's not the reality....

Well, i am NOT saying South Asia has become something like America or anything, but it not that much in gutter that it has to be shown in that light.
they highlight that woman are being forced into prostitution,but never show that 90% people are against it. they quite forget to notice that most teenage western girl get into prostituion for that extra bit of pocket money.
